You know I got to admit, I thought that was a poor move to, having Starscream's personality have such a strange contradiction right after he was established so well by McCarthy. I mean McCarthy made Starscream one of my favorite Decepticons, which prior to that I had very little love for the character, didn’t hate him just never really cared for him. |

IDW doesnt do quality work. they have no respect for their stories or the characters. | I totally agree about Starscream. His development with Furman, and then right through All Hail Megatron was amazing... it really brought the Starscream/Megatron relationship into a new dimension... albeit one borrowed from Sith Lords... Megatron's resigned logic about how it is a Decepticon commander's role to eventually be slain and replaced by his second/apprentice. But it does work with the Decepticons' survival of the fittest philosophy.
And what could be more disgraceful and disrespectful than having your leader slain by Autobots... worse... HUMANS! That was a great turn for Starscream as a character, and Costa is completely fumbling it.
However, it is a bit disingenuous to complain that IDW isn't doing quality work, immediately after lauding them for an issue you loved. Quote: |
as far as I'm concerned, that's not ironhide dying in the preview. that's some ugly beast pretending to be ironhide, being put out of it's misery. Ironhide died in the year 2005 in a shootout with the decepticon elite, and it took nothing less than a fusion cannon shot to the face to put the tough old bastard down.
| Not to mention Ironhide's distinguishing ability is his INDESTRUCTIBLE ARMOUR... to the point that he is named for it. Kind of stupid to off him in such an offhand manner. Much as I appreciate that Humans are finally getting a little credit for being dangerous, the track record has been a bit stupid.
I found it also irritating that the other Autobot taken down by humans in Furman's run was Sunstreaker, another bot noted for his super-resilient alloy armour. Does nobody even bother to read the profiles anymore??

*salutes* | I totally agree with this. That Starscream development was fantastic. The best thing to come out of AHM, I thought. Then they ignore it the very next issue.
I didn't quit IDW immediately afterward though, I bought it through the Kup issue. And now, I think I'll buy they Wreckers comic, but as far as I'm concerned, there is no ongoing G1 comic. The characters featured in that comic bare only a superficial resemblance to the ones I know and love.
And this hurts too, seeing as it looks as if their version of Ultra Magnus is in issue 3. But you can see his face in the Previews solit, and that kills any interest in the book anyway. |

| Their track record was turning to garbage before that. But that was one hell of a high point for me, probably my favorite moment out of all TF comics. and then to have it just thrown away in the next issue showed me it was a fluke. I thought they were gonna turn it around. I really did. I was sooooo hopeful. and then my hopes were curbstomped. |

I got hope for the series, I read EVERY one of the comics and besides the weird art work from time to time this is the best/most we had in a LONG time for TF in comics so their doing something right. |

Besides, Wheeljack and Windcharger didn't turn gray in the movie, and they still died.

And, really? The "ALL ROBOTS ARE BAD ROBOTS" plot? Again?
With Animated getting canceled, Classics getting "Movie-ized," the -Ations never really getting an ending, AHM messing up/ignoring continuity, Optimus going all "GIVE ME YOUR FACE!", and Iron-But-Really-More-Like-Paper-Hide there, 2008-09 may be my least favorite Year In Transformers. |

News Credits: 2 | As far as the "All Robots are bad" plot, I think it's the natural progression for the AHM story. All that the people know is that Giant F-ing robts suddenly appeared and started to blow everything up. If that happened for real and one came up to you, would you take the time to figure out if the robot transforming in front of you was good or bad? Or would you assume the worst and run.
Has this story been done before with TF's? Yeah. AHM was not exactly a well written story. But, if they're going to continue the plot and not retcon it a third time, then this IS the next step in that story. (if you still want them to be active on Earth that is.)
