It looks like the only difference between the TFC and Encore is the windshield color...

The bright windows on Skids look way better. But I'll pass. I'm fine with the HASBRO reissue.

 

Looks pretty good, he should've gotten more screen-time during G1

Granted, he wasn't given much to do (or a personality) in the ol' toon but he was both a lame character ('Triple Takeover' anyone?) and a lame vehicle. A friend of mine owned that car in real life, and man was it a giant POS.

You have all these sports cars...Wheeljack! Sunstreaker! Mirage! And then Skids. Just sayin'

 

What I want to know is if this version fixes the robot mode lop-sided issue found on the last Takara release.

It's not a bad toy, but not as much fun as... pretty much every other Autobot car released in the first two years.

Does it still have that weird raised section under one of the rear wheel arches that makes the figure stand unevenly?

I prefer the old Windshield colour, otherwise looks good, shame about the lack of the scooter, though. The frontpage is wrong, he's a Honda City, not a Honda Jazz.

Well to people beat me to it but I was going to mention he's not a Honda Jazz too.

I did notice that the variation of the mold as seen in the E-hobby remold and normal skids and also the new Mudflap and Skids homages not only have different heads they also are slightly different in the carmode -one's got a bulge in the bonnette (hood) that the other one lacks.

So one is a Turbo and one isn't.

Well technically he's a Honda Jazz Luzern which is a Honda City.

He looks nice, but not enough to warrant me to pick up another one.

 

I do not like the front wheels to be "protruding" off the sides, this is something hasbro did with the conmmemorative reissue maybe to reinforce the plastic ring that attaches the arm to the body. TFCollection skids has this deffect just half the way but hasbro really blew it, and now Takara is just using the same mold for the encore.

Anyway, nice figure to acquire if you do not have one, I already have two TFC so this one is a sure...pass!
