It wasn't intending to. $22m isn't exactly small change.

i really don't care about GI joe and i actually want it to fail,i only used GI joe in the thread title because 22 million is rather crappy for a movie that was expected to get a 40 million opening.

WOW! All the hate for G.I. Joe.....

Don't people realize the more movies like TF & G.I. Joe do well the better the chances of other movies being made that would never see the light of day...

You forget that some of those other movies never see the light of day FOR A REASON.

I don't expect GI Joe to make as much money as RotF. It's probably indicative of something when the appearance of the movie's name in the trailer caused the friend next to me in the cinema to burst out laughing.

ROTF being out of the Top 10 was going to happen anyway. But I am surprise about GI Joe only brought $22 million.

No stoopid! We're waiting for that rumored "My Little Pony" movie! I hear it's a Rob Zombie production!

How the Animated toy line REALLY came to an end

There really should not be that much hate for GI Joe

IMDB States (and while that is not always accurate, in this case I think it is true):

Yes it is. There won't be anything blatant, like General Hawk talking to Optimus or Megatron and the Decepticons aiding Cobra, but the novelization reveals that Zartan gains his morphing ability when he is injected with stolen nanomites that Sector Seven derived during their study of Megatron and the AllSpark.

Originally, Brig. General Clayton "Hawk" Abernathy (still played by Dennis Quaid) was going to be in charge of NEST in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which would evolve into G.I. Joe once the Decepticon threat was eliminated, but this was changed in later drafts. A second idea (which was inexplicably dropped right before shooting began for ROTF) involved Major William "Wild Bill" Lennox talking to Gen. Hawk on the phone after the battle in Shanghai and Duke saying something along the lines of "At least they're not robots that turn into cars," when Hawk and Scarlett show him and Ripcord the very Iron Man-esque accelerator suits.

Also, the pick-up truck the Joes climb out of when the Rattlers do their strafing run looks suspiciously like Ironhide's alt-mode (a GMC Topkick), but that may just be a coincidence.
