MTV.com- According to sources at MTV.com, the structure and marketing for the ROTF game includes a very large DLC (downloadable content) plan. What does that mean for us? It could mean many new downloadable character skins for G1, or other era characters that can be used in the ROTF movie adaptation. So not a lot is known about what exactly the DLC will be for this game, but it sounds like it may be impressive. But it also sounds like we may be needing to pry open our wallets to be able to play as some of our favorite characters. You can view the original post here, at MTV.com.
I dont have a problem with paying for DLC if its worth it, alternate costumes in street fighter 4 are a rip off, but things like map packs im fine with, i imagine thats what some of it will be if it has multiplayer like capture the flag, and if they have extra characters and g1 skins ill buy recently unlocked g1 prime and megs in the first transformers game and its awesome lol
I meant to ask this in the other ROTF game thread, but do they still refer to character models as "skins"? I thought that term was only ever used by id and their fans.
Hate the current DLC system. I can understand that one would play for an expansion pack that consists out of new levels or something, but letting customers pay for small addons such skins or weapons, most of the time heavily overpriced, is a bit shitty. But I guess it's making lotsa lotsa money so why would they change it? I'll probably still buy some of the cool shit because I need it..
some times company's pull out all the stops for DLC like Criterion with Paradise city it's had a load of free stuff and only now are they selling it (and not too expensive) Now what will be a rip off is if they sell those unlocker things that just give you access to stuff early on in the game like what EA did with last few NFS games and Namco with Soul calibur 4.
Yes, Criterion is awesome..I think by offering such cool free stuff, people are more positive towards their stuff that will come at a price. Soul Calibur 4 is a DLC fiasco. Having to buy new costumes that are already on the disc somewhere, or were already fully made and in time to be part of the retail game, just held back to make a quick buck..that's sad. Or how about the different systems' unique characters? Ra88, unfortunately I think you are right. If the game turns out to be cool, and there's DLC of characters or modes that I want..then I guess I have to either get it or leave it. Guess it depends on what price these items are offered and just how cool and valuable they will be in-game.
as far as i knwo they do yeah, if its just the same character but with only a different look (ie no different moves or stances) the nits still a skin. in the first transformers game they refer to them as g1 skin
