Smokescreen is a big disapointment

 

I know in G1 he was a repaint anyway but sheesh...

I really like the mold...I think the Premium version was the most kick- ass thus far....but this one has shoulder cannons- which rock. If Has/ Tak could have just added shoulder cannons to that particular mold, I'd be sold. However, I don't particularly take to this new head sculpt- the vague expression and cartoonish eyes don't imply the same presence that the Premium-mask sculpt had --lacking certain features (eyes and mouth definition) giving the figure a more serious tone [which, to me, is the sort of feel one would care to translate into the imagery of 'movie' figures]. I don't even think that he arms needed any sort of re-tooling, for the matter. Leave well-enough alone and all that. Just my opinions-- but love the shoulder cannons.

 

Dear god, Hasbro -actually- ditched the freaking "let''s smear everywhere" all painted clear plastic.

Hasbro finally did a good thing?

A good Bio done up for Smokescreen. Still, he ain't getting any attention in my Will Buy list.

Ok, here's the answer for my question posted over at the other Movie Smokescreen thread.  

 

I've called Hasbro lazy in the past but this takes it!

I hate Hasbro sometimes. They take the high road and go all out by making a great product like Leader Class Optimus and then take the cheesy "lazy" low road and repaint Jazz from the first movie line and call him Smokescreen......a great G1 character that isn't even in the movie. Anything to make a buck I guess? I hope he doesn't sell well and they take a hint.

i love the new more movie accurate arms and feet tho

only thing i dont care for is how the chest seems to remain one solid car front. doesnt split and move or whatever like the original



if the chest could funangle then i might've actually bought this BB

 

I'm gonna buy this then I'm going to see if his arm can fit on my current Bumblebee,if they do I'm going back to the store to buy the more chest accurate updated bumblebee and putting these arms on that one,then I'm going see if i can sell the armless bumblebee if not I'll just keep him in vehicle mode.

 

This thing is just beggin' for mods...
Could also SWEAR I've seen the chest panels (hood) folded higher somewhere to help break up that Dolly Parton look...

Back: (pick one, either the door wings or diaper butt...)
Mount doors on a sliding arm so they will collapse in to line up with his shoulder blades.

Attach diaper-butt to windshield via a sliding hinge, so the roof kibble could sit b/w his doors


Arms:
Using aves (or the like) extend the armor for both the forearm & shoulder as much as possible (if they are too long, it'll look comic-esque & that will only help the mold...) *actually kinda pissed they didn't make all fingers posable*

Chest: (most difficult & only in theory...)
Mount separation hinges inside front panels to split up the front chest pieces.

 

The windows are clear plastic - not painted.

Trust me.

 

to clarrify what i was sayin' on the previous page, they obviously are clear blue plastic, but some of the shots look like the plastic has been covered from the outside, possibly with a similar "glitter finish" that they used on the Premium figures ~ but in a few of the pix it was looking pretty opaque, which is what raised my eyebrows...

Pass. Too much b going on and I don't like the Smokescreen.

 

Why are they repainting Jazz? The figure kind of sucks. The paint job on this looks kind of cool I guess.

 

I think they should've done Ricochet instead.
More appropriate, and this mold would look awesome in black.
