Smokescreen's bio is actually pretty cool, but I'm just not a big enough fan of the Jazz mold to pick it up again. Especially when that money can go towards other Transformers.

As for Bumblebee, I have pretty mixed feeling about him. Part of me think he looks like a better mold overall, but the chest doesn't look as good. The head sculpt, whether more CGI accurate or not, just looks plain creepy. Also, I like the shoulder cannons, but I would still prefer the hand held blaster. However, the arms are nicer, and I like how the guns come out in vehicle mode. And it might just be me, but the back doesn't look any worse than the original.

I'll probably end up getting this 'Bee and skipping the preview wave one, just to have something different.

 

I like the bio, but that Bumblebee still worries me intensely.

 

Looks like this Bumblebee will be purchased mostly for bashing or swapping arms and heads.

 

The new Bumbler is nifty - me like. I certainly don't need another one, after buying all 3 deluxes from the last line, but heck - why not. I really dig the tweaks on this one.

Smokey looks cool, but I dunno - still not feeling the repaints that aren't a part of the movie storyline. He's the first one to make me think twice, though - might get 'em anyway.

 

I really like this Bumblebee figure better than the Cannon Blast figure. His arms are a huge improvement, no big panels on his arms, and I don't even care that he doesn't come with a blaster for his arm. I wish Hasbro would steer away from the blue windows. Black is just fine! It's not imperative that they are transparent!

honestly I don't see the problem with opaque windows. they're toys, one might as well accept that they'll look like toys, if it means they'll have a note less fragility. it's one thing for stuff like alternators, or in spots where they can be made of clear plastic without being at risk of breaking, but really... if there's nothing to see behind them but robot bits, why use the less resilient material? tho' I think they should probably stick a little clearcoat or something on windows to make them shiny in spite of their materials...

what I do feel like grumping over though, is they ditched the transformation of the front end of the car.   that just kinda sucks. still, it looks like this one may address some of my issues with the previous, so... I may pick it up.

 

welp looks like im getting two more BB molds :s oh well atleast there are some differences in each of these two.

 

The head and the arms alone make it worth a purchase.

I don't see why anyone would complain about the head....now it actually looks like the film version!

I just can't seem to wrap my head around this idea of the Smokescreen repaint. That's Jazz, but with a new color scheme. I know it's obvious, but my brain sees that mold and thinks "Jazz". They could have at least given him a newer, more distinct head...

This is pretty much how I reacted to movie "Cliffjumper" too. I only ended up getting his Legends size figure.

How do you know he's not in the movie?

Rumour has it there are ~40 robot characters, and I don't think we've been able to ID all of them yet. Just because we don't know Smokescreen is in the movie doesn't mean we know he's not in it.  

 

I really don't like this BB ~ seems worse in almost every regard than the Preview version. not feeling the hands, and especially not the way the chest is designed ~ seems strange for a "new" figure to be LESS screen accurate at this point of the game. Edit: and are the windows painted-over clear plastic? yuck.

Man its great that they made the arms/hands/head alot more screen accurate (though those eyes are kiiiinda creepy, maybe makin the pupil a bit wider will solve that), but it REALLY sucks that they had to sacrifice the chest accuracy... If they did that for the sake of adding the shoulder cannons... well, It just pisses me off!  But whatdaya do!  

Though I like it alot for its improvements and additions, the chest thing ruins it... I'll problably stick with the one I have... And cop that HA BB!

That Smokescreen is SOOO  ... Thats a dull lookin paint job to me. AND the the coulda at least threw in that other (and cooler) weapon that came with one of the previous Jazz versions.

Are we sure thats painted windows? Looks more like frosty transparent plastic (like 2.0 Prowl and premium Barricade) and the sun light is making it look painted. (also, notice in one alt mode pic, one back window looks painted cuz the sun lights hitting it, while the other half looks way darker)

 

I think that this bb figure is still mistransformed. I dont know why, but it just has that feeling that it is. As artiepants stated, its really late in the game that a figure would enup being less screen accurate that the previous figures. although, Ill still be buying this and the preveiw figure to see if its possible to swap parts on them at all.

 

no, i'm not sure, that was just the impression i was getting ~ it looks like they are see-through from the back and opaque from the front, but it might be a frosty coating (which i did not like on the premiums last go round, i thought it looked hella cheesy)

 

This Bumblebee is less screen-accurate (in how the chest transforms, and how the wheels aren't behind the arms), but I think this is a better *TOY* of Bumblebee. One of the problems the 2007 Bumblebee had was the restricted movement of his shoulders, the odd angles they rested on and those yellow shoulder decorations that kept popping off.

By making his arms transform more or like traditional hood-chest TFs give him a better range of motion in his arms.

I'm pretty sure those windows are translucent. They don't seem to have the same consistency as opaque plastic windows (and yeah, if they're on a seperate sprue anyway, Hasbro isn't exactly saving money by making them opaque blue plastic. The old 1976 Bumblebee had opaque windows because he was designed to be cast in half translucent blue plastic, which I assume would have been a hell of a lot of money in yellow paint).

New torso (car front), arms, shoulder launchers, roof, doors. Only thing that appears to be the same are the legs.
