Henkei Dinobot & Hot Rod Manga Scans & Pics

Is it just me, or do all these Henkei comics have the exact same story, more or less?

-Pre-established characters discover and/or fight new enemy who makes a grand introduction
-Enemy makes a sideways/over-the-shoulder glance at teh new ally speeding towards him/making a grand entrance (usually smirks around this time)
-They rumble
-good guy wins/story resolved

I think the only exception was Skyfire's, who was both the good guy and badguy.

Why so surprised? The same happens in almost any G1 TV series episode... if not in all 80's cartoon...

Hasbro's rival Mattel trademarked several variations Hot Rod, Hot Rods, and Hott Rodd for products, which prevents Hasbro for using any form of "Hot Rod" as a trademark (so no "Autobot Hot Rod" or "Hot Rodimus"). This forces Hasbro to use "Rodimus" when it comes to toys of G1 Hot Rod.

In Japan, evidently they don't have the same problem with Hot Rod (though lately they've begun Hasbro-style trademarking for certain character names).

Well, JAAM would have zero meaning to both TakaraTomy and the Japanese fandom. It's strictly a Hasbro TF fandom joke.

He means the henkei pack in comics are extremely simple stories (even by Japanese TF standards) that merely serve to introduce new toys, quite literally as we can see by the fact their names are displayed in the same font as their packaging. Even Hasbro's pack-in comics from the Armada-Energon days had much more coherent mini-stories.

Everytime I look at this crap I think about how they wasted a spot in the Henkei line. Wheeljack, Trailbreaker, Hoist, Jazz. But no, they made this crap instead.

I guessed I missed something when I recently watched Armada and am watching Energon. What's the "JAAM" joke?

...also, yes he's the kid-connect character of Armada and Cybertron (@ least from what I've seen of disc 1 & part of 2 of 7 total from that series). In Energon, they take Ironhide and make him more "Iron Hide" (??? - I think, he's referred to both ways in different places with the same meaning and the same meaning - that's a bonefide contradiction!) as a big, albeit "cool," goof who grows and learns from...you guessed it...Hot Shot of all TFs!

At the end of Armada, Hot Shot is in charge of both A-bot & D-con battle "Armadas" in their fight against Unicron when Prime & Galvs are fighting him from the inside. Sort of a vice admiral-type character in that show. Energon continues, but Cybertron gets more like Animated (that not as radical) in keeping names and twisting set plot lines.

Of course, this is from the little I've gotten and thought about so far. So take that all with a grain of salt!
