Frank is da man! It takes skill to do what he does and only a handful can do the range he does. :)

    Who interviewed Frank?

I'm curious because I want to know what the interviewer meant by someone else voicing Ray Stantz from The Real Ghostbusters, the only person to have PLAYED Ray was Dan Aykroyd,Frank was the first Ray voice actor.

Geewuners never fail to dissapoint "how did you feel when you lost the part of megatron to a BETTER VOICE ACTOR Hugo"

Get over yourselves, G1 is over,

maybe its just me, but im picking up on some resentment that he was not chosen to voice megatron for the movie and that he isnt involved with it as much as he believes he should be...

im also sensing that he feels he deserves more recognition and better roles than he is getting

I'm not saying that hes wrong for any of that, just that i get that vibe from reading his responses

That tired little attempt at an arguement would hold more weight of Peter Cullen didn't voice G1 Prime and Movie Prime... which he did. That little fact right there validates any question posed to Welker about not reprising his equally iconic/memorable/whatever role as Megatron for the Movie.

Personally, I'm tired of people 'feeling' or 'sensing' anything about Welker's supposed tone in these redundant interviews. He's been answering the exact same copy & paste questions about not getting the Movie role since 2007, and he is ALWAYS professional & diplomatic when he states his opinion no matter how unimaginative the interview questions are. I truly think some of you won't be happy until he says "yeah, Bay was right, I suck and it would have been a horrible idea to cast me... G1 IS OVER afterall!". Geeezus.

I must say I thought it a shame that Frank didn't voice Megs in the movie- partly as Megs had only a handful of lines so I don't think it was worth agonising over who should voice him. I would have thought that nostalgia points would score above anything else here, but, too late to complain about that now.

One thing I always learn from these interviews: voice actors and directors sure do love golf.

Beyond the animal noises his voices are the same performances over and over again. He has a stable of like 5 speaking voices that he uses all the time. The more of his work I hear, the more I hear the same things over and over again.

I tend to agree, wherever and whenever I'm reading a G1 Megatron.

The movie Megatron, however, is not a G1 Megatron, and thus this has no bearing on my desire (or lack thereof) to see the 2nd movie whatsoever.

To the other person who noted that Peter Cullen does both G1 and movie Prime. While this is obviously true, that doesn't make G1 and Movie Prime the same character any more than David Kaye makes Beast Wars Megatron and Armada Megatron the same character.

Frank Welker is a god among voice actors. You tell anyone that the babbling alien Nibbler from Futurama is also Fred from Scooby Doo, and they'd have to be a robot if they didn't just pass out right there.

That said, I'm not a big fan of his Megatron voice.

Frank's gotten old, he was great as Megatron in G1 but last I heard you could really hear the age in his voice. But I think that aged voice would be perfect for the RoTF Megatron since he's pretty much back from the dead, either him or The Fallen. I'm still hoping he at least plays Soundwave.

so true, so so true. welker was great as megatron in g1, but this is a very true statement

i think you're looking too into it...well in my case anyways, i just think welker is full of himself and it has nothing to do with him not being "good enough" for the movieverse....welker just comes off as very bitter.

of course hes going to be polite and professional....he doesnt want to burn any bridges...he's not an idiot, and from my take of things he wants to be a bigger part of transformers than he is and talking bad about the franchise wont help him get back in...

But here's the point. People do respect Frank Welker as G1 Megatron, but it doesn't mean he should somehow be playing every prominent new Megatrons unless his voice/s fits that role.

For example, you couldn't cast him as Beast Wars Megatron. David Kaye practically owns that role, just as nobody else besides Frank Welker can do G1 Megs.

Hey, I prefer Weaving, but don't be a jerk about it.

I totally understand that. I'm just not big on how his voices sound.

Oh, of course I am. He's done more stuff than I could even begin to list. Again, I just don't like the sound of his voice acting. Personal preference, that's it. It doesn't mean I hate him, I'm just not a fan, and TF fans who AREN'T aware of his other voice work still over-rate him. His career IS impressive. I never said otherwise. It's his voice acting that I don't find astounding. (or at least what I've heard. I would not be surprised in the least if he's had other major roles in shows I'm not aware of)

I almost thought that my first post could be considered by some flame-baiting and was going to edit it, but thought "nah, it shouldn't bother anybody" but apparently I was mistaken greatly. My apologies if I came off as brash, but I just wanted to voice my minority opinion. (yeah, I know it's not cool to crap on stuff others like, but I didn't think my post would even register let alone offend)

Christopher Lee has done 260+ movies, but 99% of them are crap. It's not the quantity, but the quality that counts.

Frank Welker has done quality work, but G1 Megatron is not among that list. G1 Megatron was whiny and pathetic. NOT a warlord to be feared. His Galvatron was HORRIBLE. Galvatron sounded more like a disgruntled elf. Soundwave was only Doctor Claw from Inspector Gadget/Cave of Wonders in Aladdin.

For a cheap 80's kid show, it works, for a multimillion dollar movie franchise headed by the leader in crap entertainment (Michael Bay), it doesn't. Sad when Bay can see things the fandom can't.

Crap entertainment? Is that what we call "good simple fun" nowadays?

To be fair, I believe Welker said he didn't like playing Galvatron, either.

There's a hint on the last question on this interview. Welker says a good voice director gets out of the way. G1's voice director was Wally Burr, who reputed demanded his voice actors perform dialogue in the manner that Burr would perform it. Maurice LaMarche had some rather unkind things to say about him.

It's entirely possible the whiney ass Galvatron was Burr's idea.
