This was announced new years eve, so it isnt like people were sitting at home on the computer (at least I HOPE not) This seems to me that there werent that many rooms available in the first place...I was still considering going, but this puts the nail in the coffin....bad form funpub.....bad form.
I sure hope whatever other additional hotels they get arent a dump like the one last year |

Once FunPub sent the announcement about the location and dates, all anyone had to do was scout the area for hotels. That's how ppl found out the Sheratin had the Botcon rate, so they immediately started booking.
When I checked this morning double bed rooms were still available Fri-Sun -- more hotels will probably be opening up soon when this one sells out.
It's all about the Primes baby! 275+ and counting...

I dont recall seeing any threads on any of the major boards..at any rate the hotel location certainly wasnt common knowlege, and the hotels for any funpub event have never sold out this quickly, not even 2007.
Still seems like a lack of rooms more than anything else. Even if it wasnt, I shouldnt have to go sleuthing around to find the hotel location. I can only speak on last year, as that was the only year we got the 2nd choice "funpub factioned" hotel, but it was significantly crummier than the main hotel..it didnt really bother me, but I had to hear about it from the wife the whole time |

It wasn't front page news because it wasn't official yet but it was discussed. Hotel block for Botcon 2009 Botcon Speculation thread
Keep in mind what you want may not be on the days that you want it for, but they still have rooms available.
I would agree to some extent that maybe they didn't bloack off as many rooms. However, I think it's a good sign if the longer stay (blocks) are selling out quickly. Have you tried calling the hotel, usually they can find you something that the automated system didn't pick up.

Like most have done, I woulda booked the room, cancel later if necessary, but oh well. |
