I know they are little statue like things. Pretty much unbobbling bobble heads. But where did they come from and why are they taking over and being printed with all sorts of franchise imagery? |

Go to Urban Outfitters or read Juxtapoz magazine and you'll see half of the time there is some random modern artist making a little limited edition vinyl today that he/she painted and sell it for outrageous prices. Kidrobot is a good example of companies like these. So I guess in order to make more money Hasbro decided t take what usually an original and quirky endeavor and put franchised characters on them. Frankly I'm usually opposed to corporate moves like this, but I love these figures. www.twitter.com/JaviFuentes |

Little Vinyl toys that first started popping up in Japan. The have been around for quite some time but here is a link with some prime examples myplasticheart :: Designer Toys, Art Toys, Urban Vinyl Toys & Art Culture |

Transformers collector=corporate whore | incidently I am drinking a machiatto and discussing avant garde jazz metal country fusion at starbucks! But I digress what I meant is that Im not a fan of the commodization of underground art/musical/film movements. Music is the best, case in point the screamo explosion after bands like thursday and thrice in the early 00's. After the naturally developed sound and style became popular labels rushed to sign anyone that sounded the same this giving us bands like Hawthorne heights, metro station, etc. My point being when the big guns get a hold of it, it's usually cheapened, but in this case it's so rad it don't matter. Now I'm gonna go adjust my beret. (I'm trying to be funny not a dick just FYI, ) www.twitter.com/JaviFuentes |
