Crikey, the news just keeps pouring in today. Dirge, Thrust, Grimlock and now these two. I'm glad this boxed shot pretty much confirms that Cyclonus' nosecone will be painted. What was that unpainted version all about? Some kind of production flaw? It sure sent everyone into a tizzy.

So they're actually calling it a "tape" mode? I thought they were going to go with "cargo" or "prisoner".

Looks pretty good. I just wish Ravage had articulated feet like his G1 self, but thats a pretty small complaint for a nice figure.

you know looking at the close up of Ravage, if you took off his bottom jaw and the piece on the side of his head, that head and neck would be a perfect Lazerbeak head/neck.

Makes me wonder if somewhere down the line that's gonna be a lazerbeak.

Looks like the color difference isnt as eye catching...

Hey Eric, do you have a Bumblebee or Cliffjumper for some size comparison... The design is very similar in that they have an somewhat of a TFA twist and looks like maybe the same dude designed them... anyone know about whos been designing these 2.0's???

still hate the color and the overall cheap happy meal-esque look of hound. reminds me a lot of sentinel prime but i did end up liking him. is it just me or does ravage's head look a lot like laserbeak's? kinda weird.

looks like maybe Ravages' teeth arent 4 individual spikes... but instead 2 solid bars, one running across the top of the mouth, the other, across the bottom... Eric can you tell us if thats the case? If so, or evven if not... Maybe sanding down the teeth spikes/bars down flat will make the mouth look less Beak-like...

I love that the box say "RAVAGE Included!" with an '!' point

Kind of sucks that the back of the card Hound's arms are green hands, black forearms, and Green shoulders but the actual toy is the opposite. So weak!

The prototype on the back of the card was painted in the wrong colours. Hound is supposed to have black shoulders and hands and green forearms, as seen in his fictional appearances and on his Alternators toy.

I think it's getting ridiculous if we're now complaining about not getting the wrong colour schemes on toys.

No one designer does any toy, really. For most TFs, it takes Hasbro's guys in the US to conceptualise the character than for TakaraTomy's designers to clarifiy them, and then there's a lot of back and forth between both companies.

However, the TakaraTomy designer most likely responsible for much of the final look and engineering of Hound is Alex Kabulsky, who also designed the last four Deluxe class Bumblebees (Classics, Movie and Animated), among other TFs:

You are correct indeed sir. I was mearly pointing out that the card back is once again misleading to consumers who think for some odd reason that the colors on the box represent the colors of the figure they're purchasing. Hasbro seems to be doing this a lot lately. The last one I can think of is Elite Guard Bumblebee's head color

They're not intentionally misleading people, prototypes always have more paint decos that are gradually dropped to keep things under budget, but most prototypes are also totally painted from head to toe which naturally never makes it to the final toy, and both Hasbro and Takara have been doing this for years and years. I find it odd that this is the year people chose to get all upset over it.

Look man it seems like you are the one getting all buggered out by my observation. I never said Hasbro is intentionally misleading people I personally think they just don't care. That's one of the reasons they release official images of figures that are mistransformed, they just don't care that much.

It still doesn't make it right to advertise a color scheme on the box and have the figure inside not match with it. And to set one more thing straight I'm not upset in any way shape or form. This also isn't the first year fans have been unhappy with packaging or miscolored figures. Not sure where you're getting all of these accusations from to begin with

In all honesty if they for some reason released Hound with all yellow arms I would personally still get him

I think these are both awesome. Minor coloration issues are minor.
