Now if Hasbro had said it was lack of support that was the reason for their plans to put the line on hiatus, then I would have said pretty much the same thing, but as-is the line seems to be doing well enough. It's got the perfect combination, imo, of what both the kids and the fans like. Pretty much the only reason it's being put on hiatus next year is because it doesn't really have any form of media to support it (not even a commercial so far). Quote:

I still remember seeing those first black and white pictures of Prime and Megs, and the outcry of certain fans about Cliffjumper being a repaint of Bumblebee. Quote:

Having a figure in one line doesn't mean there won't be one in the other; it simply means that Hasbro (or indeed retailers) don't want to put two very similar figs on the shelves at the same time. Hence why Universe Ratchet isn't coming out for a while - but we do know it's coming soon. | A novel point. That's probably why we got Smokescreen instead of Jazz. Well, the good part of movie Jazz being dead is he can be ready for the first wave after hiatus!
And I thought the reason why we didn't get Ironhide in the original classics was because he was in the movie. If having a similar movie character could keep them from appearing in the animated series, they wouldn't have put Ratchet in either. They probably didn't want to have that many characters when they could easily be condensed, so we get a Ratchet that acts like Ironhide.
The whole Universe on hiatus thing does bite, but I can see why. Hasbro's got way too many lines running at once. It's unreasonable to expect them to keep it up. And I'm sure they'll have a ton of movie figures to release when the time comes, like last time. Maybe instead of them doing repaints in the movie line (and I mean repaints of figures of older lines, like Energon or Cybertron), they'll bring Universe back a little earlier. |
