Well, this was kind of expected, but I was holding out hope that Alternity Convoy might have been brought over as Optimus Prime for the 25th line as a Deluxe and labled as "Alterntors Series". Seems like a wasted oportunity as this will probably only be a one shot ala the Music Label and Sports Label figures. Eh, guess I import the Takara version.

Hasbro: There are currently no plans for a 3.75" scale human figure in any Transformers line, but we do have an awesome concept for Fall 2009 in support of the movie that I think you will find very cool! Stay tuned
Eh, I know a lot of people want this, but I can't say I really care one iota about the human characters. Last human that got a toy was Kicker... and that turned out to be a pile of dung...

Hasbro: Universe will be put on hold when the movie toys come out (although we will likely have a few new toys out in Universe as retailer exclusives). But Animated will continue with certain key assortments alongside of the new Movie toys. But we don't think of Universe being done, just on hiatus.
Sad, very sad indeed. Especially sense everything Hasbro had said at various panels up until this point made it sound like they intended to keep it around and just scale it back. Guess 'retailer exclusives' is their idea of scaled back. I honestly can't imagine what Animated is going to give us save for more repaints unless we get more of the Season Three characters early ala Jetfire and Jetstorm.

Well, no indication of when they're putting Universe on 'hiatus' and hopefully they don't try the B.S. they pulled last time by milking the Movie line way beyond reason with nothing but repaints for the last five to six months of the line and Universe comes back shortly after the big push of the movie figures.

Hasbro: Since we did Optimus and Megatron in Voyager when we launched Classics, we didn't want to go back and do new versions at a slightly larger scale so soon after. So we have been focusing on bringing out characters in the higher priced assortments that have great alt modes and have pretty good fan recognition. After we get through the movie product we will likely re-evaluate Universe to see which characters we want to focus on. There are still so many great characters that haven't been done at all in Classics/Universe that we have been wanting to get those out first.
Well, that's good news that the line will be re-evaluated after the focus has shifted away from the movie line. Frankly, I think they need to do Ultra or Leader versions of Powermaster Prime/Star Convoy (heck, combine the design) and Super Megatron. That would be great. Gives me something to potentially look forward to for 2010 I suppose.

Hasbro: Not in the near future. In order to do Omega Supreme justice, it would need to be Leader or Supreme Class. And we typically only launch those as new molds in the fall. With the Movie coming out this summer, the higher priced toys will be in the Movie line. But we do love the way he turned out and would love to see him in the line.
Shame, but I guess this is just the way it has to be with the movie line coming up soon and all. I'm just praying that we get an Omega Supreme eventually... like after the movie line and such. Especially if he shows up some more in S3.

Probably not. Most Supreme figurs I've purchased have been an unfortunate waste of money with the exception of Primus and Unicron.

I'm going to guess that he probably won't be. The Henkei version is coming out in January so my guess is that he's either part of Wave 3 with Hot Shot or maybe in another wave after (they didn't exactly say when Universe's hiatus would start) or he could end up as a store exclusive, but I'm hoping not. Also, I seriously doubt there's any fear of him being released as part of this year's Botcon set.

If I had money to bet, I'd put it all on Ratchet being one of them.
Well, I honestly can't imagine who considering that the one you're willing to bet on is getting released in the Henkei line in January and I just don't see Hasbro having a remold ready to go and letting FP do it. Not to mention... it just wouldn't be profitable for FP to go for that character when half the fandom would probably go to impor the cheaper version which would have been on the shelves first.

Yeah, I feel the same way, but remember that we haven't seen all of 2009 Wave 3 (only Hot Shot) and that there is probably enough time for them to fit one or two more waves of deluxes into the line before the movie stuff gets released.

That was my thoughts too.

Wave One 2009:
  • Starscream
  • Cyclonus
  • Hound
  • Cheetor

Wave Two 2009:
  • Dinobot
  • Smokescreen

Wave Three 2009:
  • Hot Shot

Now, based on online retailers we know that 2009 Wave Two will only have Dinobot and Smokescreen as the new releases, but given the way that releases usually go I would wager that there's at least two more figures that we don't know about being relesed alongside Hot Shot. I'd be willing to bet that that's where Ratchet is going to go. Also, there's probably still time (based on their current somewhat fast paced release schedule) for them to get out one or two more waves of deluxes before the movie line puts Universe on hiatus.

Anyone else?
It's possible. I'd say it totally depends on if Hasbro had already worked the remolding for this into their original plans for the Ironhide mold or not. We already know they worked Ratchet in and I'm guessing that it's possible that they could have worked a mold to be remolded more than once.

Still, if Hasbro doesn't have plans (and considering that they seem reluctant to do Trailbreaker for whatever reason I'm not going to assume to much that they do)... I'd love FP to release the character as a remold of the Ironhide mold.

Yeah, add some E-Hobby goodness to that and you've got me. Though, I don't think I'd be too into Shockwave from Onslaught unless they remolded both the head and arm.

Store exclusive Universe, I see these as the combiners. Possibly Bruticus for Walmart and Superion for Target, seems to make sense to me.

I'm looking forward to some of the movie figures, but don't plan on buying any new molds of the movie 1 guys unless need be (Optimus maybe for combining).

Hate Animated, but what can you do?
My thoughts exactly.

They need to prioritise Animated Omega Supreme before the Animated Bubble bursts.
Otherwise he's either going to end up as a Universe leftover or not come out at all.

And he needs to be cross compatible with the legends animated toys and be at least a Supreme, if they can make a to big for itself Cybertron Starscream they can put some proper effort into an Omega Supreme with Robot/space ship and playset features to it.

Oh and I'm dissapointed about the lack of 3 3/4" figures for humans - I think that is a better idea for any movie repaints in 2010 packing them with a movie-human Gi Joe like figure the cinema scene packs minifigures were horribly substandard.

It's not like they need to go crazy - but they could make Mickaela so she could rid on Arcee.

Hopefully we'll see Ratchet & Red Alert before the line folds up. I can also see a straight repaint of Skids out of Ironhide, though probably not until Universe returns in 2010 or a store exclusive.

Alternators: Don't care either way. I'm long since past them.
Alternity: Don't know if want. They look nice, but Japanese-collector-oriented TFs tend to be infuriatingly complex and fiddly, so I have my doubt about whether I'd like it if Alternity toys showed here.
Continuations: Seems logical that Universe would step aside for the ROTF movie line, considering that Universe had been classified as the line to keep 'movie realism' going while there's not an active movie line. While others see the "on hiatus" as code for "dead", I am more optimistic. The reason? There's probably going to be a third movie, and there's probably going to need to be another "Universe/25th" to fill the space between films, while Animated (or its descendant) marches along on its own.

Omega Supreme: makes me a sad panda, but hopefully there will be another opportunity later.

How the Animated toy line REALLY came to an end

Hopefully OS gets worked in soon. But otherwise keep the old school flowin!
More universe! With a quickness! We need more deluxes.

Keep the ultras as gestalt leaders, use voyagers for the rest of the not quite deluxe size bots, and keep em coming!

Oh and movie devs better have a green repaint planned! >.>

All I can say is dammit hasbro, you're eating up my money with fury files and universe, soon movie again, and animated all throughout. Gah, but at least more universe is coming. I hope that means we'll see Wheeljack, jazz, Skids (Ironhide repaint), Ricochet(Jazz repaint), Trailbreaker, hoist(trailbreaker repaint), Tracks(Wheeljack retool with slight different head back area), Brawn(Swindle retool), Springer, Sandstorm(retooled from springer?), Soundwave, kupp, nemesis kupp (in shockwave's first attempt to make a bad autobot, he went for the one with the most experience...evil kupp scheme, or he could be the motormaster repaint too >.> though I'd prefer his G1 alt.), shockwave, Sixshot(shockwave repaint), cosmos, windcharger, motormaster(thing G1 bot transformation, cab and trailer all one piece, and one bot), Ultra Magnus (Motormaster retool), Broadside, Blitzwing, and tigatron! And where are our cybertron coby rambles repainted as frenzy and rumble?
Then just mix them up with more repaints of those molds or others and think of other bots who deserve new molds and can be repainted a ton. =D

I'm hoping that's what they decide on while planning more universe during it's hiatus.
Not to mention if they finish out the characters from the ark soon and then carryon to the rest of the universe who never had decent new representations in a long time, or had poorly executed ones to start like armada hotshot and scavenger.

Yay to more animated. I wonder what the new molds we'll be getting are besides the wreckgar, jets, Arcee, Constructicons, wasp, and amored prowl. Though that sucks about OS, he needs to be made in supreme class. T_T That's like the one big purchase I want to do!

And I know we got confirmation on Smokescreen, but what about red alert? And ratchet is still unknown? =/

I am really bummed over this news for two reasons, one is that the Animated line is
still gonna run,I really hoped they would do away with them,as every single figure I
have of them which is very few, maybe 8 or 9 has design defects like terribly loose
joints especially in the legs, and awful preschool looks. So IMHO this line should have
died, now considering the Cybertron line before that, those are some of the best TF's
I think.

Now as for Universe Classics,I totally saw that coming, even tho I hate for it
to,and sure some of the designs like Galvy and Prowl has parts that fall off easily
I still think they are sweet figures, and if they had just kept them going thru
the Movie line with them I would have been happy, but I'm not now. Thanks Hasbro
for nothing.
