Chances are, NickToons were the only ones who offered half-decent money. ITV, Sky and Fox Kids all had their fingers burned by buying in TF cartoons people couldn't care less about.
I understand that, but isn't the point of the cartoon to advertise the toys? Doesn't it make more sense to take a loss on the cartoon but win on the bigger picture of DVD and toy sales?

You know, this whole business does make me curious: which toys are the people of the United Kingdom buying? And if so, where are they buying them? Because as from the perspective of this collector, I gotta tell you; as a toy market, the UK seems bleak as hell.

Simply put, it just feels to me like there aren't that many good places to buy toys in Britain any more. Of course, there's still the likes of Toys 'R' Us, but they're few and far between; the toy sections of most other shops, even in the big supermarkets and department stores, seem to be characterised by limited selection, out-of-date properties and infrequent restocking. My nearest major retail area is the Trafford Centre, one of the biggest and most prestigious malls in the country, and it doesn't have a single dedicated toy shop in there; out of the 280 advertised shops and services who operate there, only two, Debenhams and John Lewis, sell any Transformers figures, and even then only in piddling quantities.

Can anyone in the know enlighten me on this? Do the people of Britain even BUY toys any more, and if so, what? Because from all I can tell, the place seems like an utter wasteland. Animated was the only thing worth venturing outside to find for me; if that hits the can, I might as well give up on British retail entirely.

As a matter of fact, the cartoon is starting on Jetix this Saturday, 11.10. New episodes premier at 12.50, and then there's a re - run at 19.25 .

Also, RTS (Radio Television of Serbia) is supposed to start running a TF cartoon this year, and I guess that could be Animated as well - don't take my word on it, though .

What bothers me, though, is that, toy - wise, only one of 3 major toy dealers in Serbia is offering Animated toys at the moment...

I'm finding myself buying a lot online these days. Recently, I've felt the urge for some decently posable Batman figures. The only stuff in stores are the dregs of the Dark Knight line with whacky outfits and weapons not in the film. We don't get the Movie Maniacs line, that is about decent replicas of the characters, and you can forget about something like Microman. Hell, it's only from reading Shortpacked! that I've just realised the DC Universe line exists, and I want some of it. Bah.

My cousins are into Lego more than anything else, followed by Wii and DS games. They don't buy anything relating to what they watch on TV at all.

I can also say that wrestling figures are pretty popular too - the fact that I put my old ones in the newspaper to sell, and a woman bought all but four of them today (the first day of them actually being in the paper) indicates to me that there's quite a demand for them.

I am torn on this. I hate Animated. Everyone on here knows this and naturally I am glad when anything that is going to get rid of Animated faster is a plus. Hopefully Hasbro or marketing or whoever scratches their head and thinks "You know maybe for the next Transformer show we should actually make them look like cool-looking robots again?" On the other hand I honestly do feel bad for the fans of Animated since it does suck when you really like something and it is discontinued. For the fans of Animated I do offer a "that sucks!". The only happy ending I could really see (though impossible) is having two Transformer shows. Ah what a dream that would be. Anyway sorry UK TFA fans. Sincerely.

Animated doing badly in the UK has nothing to do with its standing in the US and other countries. Given it's domestic success, Animated isn't going anywhere for at least two more seasons, if not more.
What the hell does "gumpy" mean anyway? Seriously. Because I don't know.

Holy shit, I was right!

Animated IS going down hill! First the UK, soon... the U.S. and everywhere else. Too bad the Japanese couldn't give this series the creditibility it should have received.
