From the start, I have had reservations about the visibility of Transformers Animated in the UK - as has been noted, the show is confined to a relatively obscure cable channel, with no terrestrial airing in sight, and I have yet to see a single bit of advertising for it in any format - but with the toys hitting the shelves in large quantities, I just assumed that somebody in Hasbro's UK division was doing something to sell the damn things. Shows how naive I am. How in God's name can a business decide to launch a drastic revamp of their brand, and then do absolutely nothing to create awareness of it? Thanks much to Red leader for the insider insight; even if there's nothing anyone can do about this debacle, it's something to at least understand why it happened.
Oh, and to all you guys chiming in with your "ahahaaa good coz Animated sux" sentiments; Jesus, have a little empathy, FFS. We're all Transformers fans here, and we all want to be able to enjoy the brand; all this news means is that dozens of committed TF fans on this board alone - not to mention hundreds of kids across the UK - are about to be cut off from the toys they love, and possibly even the show, as well as potentially jeopardising the strength of the whole brand. To crow about it is short-sighted, unreasonable and incredibly misanthropic... |

What was surprising was that I thought Warner would sell the cartoon on DVD, as they do with all CN shows, but the Paramount deal from 2004 is still active unfortunately.
This NickToons example, as well as Toonani, shows that it would be better for each country to organise the distribution of the cartoon. If Animated was on terrestrial or even freeview, it would get a lot more exposure, especially with the whole country going digital in the next few years. TheTransformers.Net - UK based Transformers

I mean lets be serious why would i buy crap toys who all have faces that look like they have been raped by gravity! why would i buy that when i can by such things from Takara such as MP Thundercracker/Henkei and many other things.
I just hope Hasbro learn there lesson this time with Animated and start working with Takara when making a Transformers show instead of thinking there smart arses and trying to copy the awful aimation of Star Wars 'The CloneWars' which alsohad shit animation and sold extremely poorly as well because of that fact! Shit Animation puts ALOT of people off watching a show | In the words of the great Windsor Davies....
SHAAAT AAAAAAP!!!
Why come into a thread that's obviously going to be full of people who are sad that they may lose local access to Animated and post flamebait?
You're not adding anything worthwhile to the conversation, so do one.

The only real way over here to guarantee cartoon viewership is either:
a) Put it on one of the above terrestrial channels
b) Put it on one of the "main" satellite / cable channels - ie, Cartoon Network, Sky One, maybe the main Nickelodeon channel.
Anything else and you might as well be screening it at midnight. | Not that different really. Here in New Scotland we have 4 free to air channels (other areas might have more/less). CBC, CBC french, CTV, Global. None of them show Animated. The channel that does is YTV. Which is a cable channel, basic cable though. The most bare bones cable package will have it. I assume that CN is similar.

(paraphrased from a post made by Cliffjumper over at TF Archive)
Chances are, NickToons were the only ones who offered half-decent money. ITV, Sky and Fox Kids all had their fingers burned by buying in TF cartoons people couldn't care less about.
In addition, Hasbro's pricing is an ongoing response to the line's consistently poor sales in the UK since, well, about 1992. The figures are expensive, but a certain amount of that is Hasbro covering themselves for Wave 1 staying on the shelves for six months, like the last 15 times...
Looking for a complete Energon Sky Shadow (from Superion Maximus).
Offering: Binaltech Hound, Swindle, Ravage (Corvette), Skids.
Can buy in stores: Robot Heroes Tigatron/Inferno, Ricochet/Predaking.

Though I guess it makes sense to make room for product that does sell, you'd think after christmas would be the time they'd decide to can or not, since it has yet to have a holiday season to test the sales.
Personally, besides being burned by lackluster TF series in the past, I blame the lower ratings, besides being on an obscure station, to some of the piracy of the episode. Who's going to bother finding a local listing for the show if they can just go to youtube or veoh or otherwise? |
