Not to me, as I explained
in this thread. It takes approximately 3-4 months from the time a distributor announces a release before the actual street date. They just released S1 in August and reissued the movie on DVD and Blu-Ray as well. The window's too small to release S2 so quickly afterwards--it would end up killing potential holiday sales for S1 and competing with the movie titles too.
From a business perspective, it's actually a better decision on their part to wait and release it just after Christmas due to kids and fans getting gift cards and cash as gifts, and thus avoid it competing with their similar titles during the holiday season. The DVD/Blu-Ray market is already going to be hugely over-saturated during the upcoming holiday season anyway. For them to add yet another
TF title in the same season when they'll already have 4
TF titles on the market... wait, make that FIVE including the just-announced Energon... well, it just isn't a smart thing to do from an industry standpoint.

It would be nicer if instead of season 2 photos,
they'd give us season 3 preview photos.

I agree completely. As I said with the S1 release, it's not a "preview" if the show has already aired.

Interstitials are often too brief to legitimately credit them as "animated shorts." In industry-speak, they're also called "bumps." Interstitials/bumps are quick little bits of programming normally shown during commercial breaks. They can be anywhere from just a few seconds to a few minutes long and sometimes longer (like up to 5 minutes) depending on how much time is needed to fill.
I just wanted to clarify this for anyone who picks up S2 later and is expecting original 3-5 minute
TFA cartoons similar to what was included with the "Transform and Roll Out" DVD. Those are legitimate animated shorts. With the press release actually describing these as "interstitials," I would expect them all to be less than a minute each... although that's just my humble opinion.
Seriously, don't expect much from them. They could be as simple and brief as the
G1 "We now return to The Transformers" bumps Rhino included on their releases.
