I have to say this looks a lot nicer than most of what we got for the first film. I appreciate that TPTB are taking input and trying to tone down the outlandishness of the first round of designs. If the rest of the new
TF's are designed along these lines I might see the sequel just to look at the robots, despite whatever human-based antics I have to endure.
I can understand people not being able to see the resemblance as that's pretty subjective, and if I'd just seen this without context I wouldn't immediately jump to the conclusion that it was Tracks. But if it really is the head of the corvette-bot, I can see the resemblance, which would only grow stronger if it was colored like
G1 Tracks' head.
That said, I'm not so keen on the projecting faceplate with its "rhino-horn", but I suppose this might be his battle mask and he may have a (hopefully) good-looking nose and mouth under there. If not, it certainly could have been worse. My problem with the film wasn't so much that they didn't resemble their
G1 incarnations (which I still would have preferred) but that I just didn't like how they looked standing on their own. I'd much rather have a good looking cast that doesn't resemble
G1 than a terrible looking cast that references
G1 elements (I'm looking at you Megatron).
