Well, maybe it is not as bad as people originally thought. However, like others have said, he still very well may have been under the influence, which is dumb as hell. But what I don't get is some of the hateful remarks I have seen in other threads about this, saying he is a "hack" and how the movie franchise would do better without him anyway. I'm not saying he is a young Marlon Brando or something, but IMO the kid brought a lot of humor and charisma to his role in TF. Indiana Jones, not so much, but I thought that whole movie sucked ass, so the blame cannot fall squarely on his shoulders for that.

I think we have to remember that he's a young actor who has shot up to stardom, and there is a lot of allure to the party life in his environment. The Hollywood celebrity lifestyle is trademarked by outrageous behavior, drug/ alcohol use, and myriad temptations to exercise poor judgment. I'm not condoning his actions if he was in fact driving under the influence (with a passenger no less), but I think there are a lot of sanctimonious people on the board that forget most of us have screwed up at one time or another, and it likely occurred in our late teens or twenties. Hopefully he learns a lesson from this whole ordeal and reins in some of his behavior .

Yeah, probably. I, however am glad that he wasn't to blame. Chances are he wasn't drinking at all.

Though really, now I'm dissapointed in the guy who ran the red light.

If the other driver indeed ran a red light, then I wouldn't want to be in his place,
given the fact that Shia probably won't be able to work for a month. I smell a lawsuit.

Shia continues to spectacularly fail at committing crime as he goes out drunk-driving with a hot girl in the passenger seat, and gets hit by someone else.

Next week: Shia attempts to rob a bank, but accidentally gives his gun and the contents of his wallet to a charity collector in the street.
