Yes he did. Whether the cartoon purists want to bash it or not, Ultra Magnus was always an armored Prime robot. If anything, blame the cartoon for not touching on this. Pat Lee's TF comic did, and it was one of the coolest moments in the series.
Now that THAT is out of my system, I want Nemmy like I want AIR 
DESPERATELY NEED: G1 Perceptor accessories, G1 Brainstorm right gun, and either Cybertron Hotshot or Cybertron Excellion head.
