I don't think I've heard anything that contradicted that "script" (or rather, "plot treatment") that was supposedly leaked that I read a while back and this latest would seem to only reinforce it.
(Possible TF2 treatment information below - SPOILER!) In that "script", Sam and his best friend are at college. (That also ties into the rumors of that kid from Superbad turning down a role) Then they drive cross country to meet up with someone or something or whatever.
Anyone see any indications that Las Vegas might be a location? That would reinforce that plot element with the top secret energy source actualy powering Vegas. The lack of any Vegas mention doesn't disprove it, since a robot fight on the strip would force most (if not all) of the strip to be CG anyway.
Maybe I missed the news post that said "that script was a proven, total fraud" but I rather liked that plot, so here's hoping they do that (or something even better). That thing had Ultra Magnus and the Constructicons and I belive Sideswipe/Sunstreaker. Reminds me in retrospect of the plot of Animated - an "elite guard" shows up to help fight the decepticons. After all, it can't be *only* Prime who doesn't scurry off at the arrival of Megatron.
