This was the same thing that was handed out at the 'How to Draw' forums at Botcon. Nice that other people have a chance to see it now, too.

The red lines were randomly placed. You ain't teaching kids to draw with that.
Dividing the oval shape into symmetric halves would have helped. Just my technical 2 cents.

Prime is in the Animated How To Draw book. Sadly, no Blitzwing though.

I guess the starting red line placement made more sense with the verbal explanation. It worked. I can't draw for anything and mine turned out pretty good from BotCon.

Y'know, with all the comic/designer character sketching I've seen at conventions, I've never seen anyone start with the whole circle-and-cross schtick.

I know, but that's the method shown in every "how to draw" tutorial, and it's never helped me draw worth squat. It'd just be nice to see someone who can actually draw use it.

BTW I've never used the lines and I'll be damned if I ever will!

Considering the book is for kids, I think it's the norm for the instructions to be circles and lines. [Since most 'how-to-draw' books I've seen for cartoons are set out like this...] I just love the was these tuts go from a silhouette outline to holy-crap-detail-in-the-face!!! It's usually the face that flips me out! :lol

Well it's bad to start drawing from the head down straight away without any sketching because proportions can get out of whack. It causes big/tiny head problems. I know some people who can keep proportions but these people I know are well practiced artists and I am very jealous of them...Well that's just my two cents =)

Bingo! It is for kids. Us adults get so excited about our TF's we forget that is their (Hasbro's) main target audience.

Anyway the session at BotCon was kind of fun. The guy who did our session usually does not work on Bumblebee so it was fun watching him.
My best memory is that I snapped a photo of Backscatter working on his drawing, which he signed for me. I have his drawing, his photo, and a photo of the Hasbro dude's drawing and framed them together. My best souvenir of the BotCon!
