The helicopter mold would have made a far better Universe Springer than Cybertron Evac, especially given they're already using Evac for Autobot Blades. |

Arguably, Energon Bulkhead is already in Springer colours, so re-releasing him in Classics/Universe might be a bit redundant. A head re-mold would have been nice though. I never really pictured Springer as having a handlebar mustache.
For my part, I recently rectified that by replacing E. Bulkhead's face (just the face) with a faceplate from a spare G1 TwinTwist. It works pretty well.
Ever notice the Autobots have a lot of helicopters? Blades, Springer, Sandstorm, Whirl... and more recently Evac. Granted Sandstorm and Springer are also cars, but somehow helicopters seem to be more essential to the characters.

The names have changed, but most of the price point structure (not counting exclusives) has been the same for all main lines since Armada:
$6.99 - Mini-Con/Energon/Scout/Real Gear (none in Animated)
$9.99 - Super-Con/Combat/Deluxe
$19.99 - Max-Con/Mega/Voyager
$24.99 - Giga-Con/Command/Ultra (none in Animated)
$39.99 - Super Base/Leader
$49.99 - Supreme (none in Movie)
Armada also had the $14.99 Role Play point for Laserbeak. The movie line added Ultimate, a second $10 type (FAB), and Cyber Slammers. Animated has Activators and yet another $10 type (Bumper Battlers). JARODIMUS Newest Addition(s): TF:RotF Fearswoop & Soundwave ("Gathering at the Nemesis").

Onslaught will make up for missing the Cons from the start of this line. |

To the topic at hand; Powerglide was never really on the radar, to be honest, and the poses they put him in really don't help any. Onslaught looked a lot better in the teal get-up; the grey looks okay, but nowhere near as nice. I might pick him up if I can, although I'd probably stick the riot shield in my bits box, as it looks stupid in vehicle mode.

I mean, if you put an Energon Cliffjumper next to a Dreadwing or Shockblast, you'd never guess that they were the same pricepoint. Quite a variety there... though it does strengthen my complaint about how diminished the scale of most Voyagers has become in recent lines.
My recollection is also complicated by the fact that I wasn't actively collecting the larger figures at full price (usually on clearance) during Energon, and the prices in Canada are a bit different. Quote:

Many of the Energon "Voyagers" in the above list are easily the size of more recent "Ultras", and all had electronics built in. The robot modes of Bulkhead and Landmine are a bit more like current Voyagers (which usually omit electronics).
I guess my point remains... it's unfortunate that Hasbro decided to make these Classics 2.0/Universe figures as Ultras, and the first Classics figures as Voyagers. It honestly diminishes the appeal considerably. I'd prefer to have those particular characters smaller, more in synch with the earlier figures, and I'll be more likely to buy them at retail at the lower price point.
Ah, well...
