Um... not to be an ass or anything here, but if those Tech Spec cards you are offering are unofficial, did you guys at least offer compensaition to the artists who drew the art you're using? If not, that would really suck as that art isn't really yours to make a profit off of. If you have, then please disregard.
I have the cards, and think they're great, but I wonder if anyone at BotCon, in an official position will say anything about them? Anyway, looks like I'll be dropping by TF Source at BotCon.
TFSource isn't the one MAKING the cards. They're just selling them. It's like selling back issues of Dreamwave comics that the artists didn't get paid on... only less official. I wonder if Botcon is gonna have people selling KO Transformers at all...
I don't know if they did not make them, had them made or bought them off of the people who did make them, but I'm more than willing to bet whoever did make them stole the art. Only Hasbro has the rights to let anyone use that art since it was made under their license thru Dreamwave. It is not the same as selling back issues of the comics as those were official and licensed. I know a thing or two about producing an unofficial product and I can tell you that I never was so stupid as to use official artwork on any of my books. First, Hasbo can and have had unlicensed product siezed in the past. Second it's just wrong to use anyone's art outside of an offical product without compensation given to the artists. I had new art made for the covers of my books and paid the artists who did them well for their work. If I come across as a bit holier than thou, I don't mean to. I just am sick of seeing some of my good friends work getting ripped off just to make a fast buck off of the fans. And while the cards do look cool, it's still no excuse for this kind of crap.
I think the art used here is all licenced bij Hasro, so the artist would've already been paid for his or her work. If anyone is missing out on money it's Hasbro, right? Anyway, I can't wait to get the WST dino's finally!
Oh, I wasn't arguing with you... just pointing out that several DW artists didn't get paid. The cards are just one outlet... there's tons of things that use DW art unofficially, yet they all continue unscathed like the KO makers...
