I just wanted to say thank you Don for all the great, detailed art that you have brought our way. Years ago, I thought that the marvel stuff would be tops and that we would never see any art that came close to the beautiful package art from the 80's, then here comes this Don guy...lol. I looked forward to every piece of art you did even if it was on stuff like armada which I wasnt a fan of....you still blowed my expectations away! I'm glad I had the pleasure of talking to you and getting a few books signed at a few conventions. I hate to see you go but I understand the constraints you go through and you are probably about to burn out transformer-wise. Like said" too much of a good thing can be a bad thing". I wish you well and hope that you find new chances in the comics field. I would also like to see you write and see your ideas. I am a fan and I will follow your work, wherever it takes you. I would still like to see a tf cover from time to time:) . Take care buddy!!

In case anyone is interested in seeing what Don is kicking around...

It's quite nifty to wake up in the morning and find your email inbox with Figueroa art waiting for you.

    Thanks.

Sounds to me that he is still doing comics and comics for IDW, just not Transformers for now. It was great that we heard his insight into how things went down and about his experience. Its not often we hear from a fan who turned into the very artist drawing TF books. I'm glad we got to read this interview. Thanks for doing this Ktulu.

If anything Don does have a very supportive fanbase, its obvious by these boards. While he might not be doing TF books now, I wouldn't be surprised if he finally got the miniseries he wanted to contribute for TFs in the future.

Best of luck on your future endeavors Don, what you are working on now sounds exciting.

Your idea is intriguing. Let us know what becomes of it.

And I hope that your leaving IDW isn't a sign of problems within the company or something. I like the books they're doing and don't want to see them end.

Not at all. IDW is going strong. I decided to jump into the freelance writing pond in order to stretch my creative muscles and get back to writing. In fact, I've currently got two projects in the works with IDW, and an issue of Cory Doctorow's Futuristic Tales of the Here and Now coming out next month that I adapted.

I fell in love with Transformers again a little too late. Just when I restarted collecting comics he leaves. Sigh!

All I have so far is Stormbringer and a few Beast Wars Ascending ( though I'm not a fan of it but for his art's sake I bought them ).

I'm still waiting for Don's Sketchbook to come in my mail.

Does anyone know if he has a site ala deviant with a collection of his work.
I know I would love to see anything he comes up with.
