I noticed it, but I disagree except on the legs. The door windows are due to the translucent piece and isn't a clear judge. The legs look smudged that could be dirt or shadows as well. It is standing a on a tablecloth that has red highlights.

The only limit also to their exclusives, is the colorings. If the red is exclusive, then that red one will never see light on mainshelves. But a yellow or blue might. xD

Also, Swindle is pretty plain, and cliffjumper just uses the already there BB stripes with silver highlights. Maybe (if this is a wide release one) they are testing colors as well, and yellow seems to sell really well, as BB shows lol. Not to mention the fact, how many Aveos do you see with a custom paint job? Or not in solid color?

Besides, even if it is a repaint, lots of test shots and prototypes are hand painted. Where it should be noticeable the most from transforming are the locking pegs, and those are solid. Also the headlights, and windows have a slight different tint.

I'd wager it's handpainted. Even in car mode you can see the faintest tinge of red through the yellow on the roof and doors. It's possible that some red is being picked up as refection from the instruction sheet but I'm not sure i'm convinced.

Universe Sideburn at Wal-mart anyone? Had red under the carbon black on clear parts. Wouldn't be the first time. Also, that looks like it could be the oddess resulted from viewing thick yellow paint through blue plastic.

RE: The colors never being available in the US: This is a CHINA EXCLUSIVE. Hasbro's agreements about the exclusive colors with Takara cover Japan, not China. Also, Hasbro is the one who serves China for Transformers toys normally, not Takara...not that Takara's products aren't available there more easily than elsewhere, but do I really need to mention the constant "About a month before US sightings" mass releases of Hasbro product in China?

At first I thought that was a paintjob because of the apparent red visible under the doors. But look at the headlights. They look like a different shade of plastic on the side-by-side shot. This might be legit.

If this is handpainted, it seems a bit wonky that someone would get their hands on this supposely hard to get figure and paint it yellow just to perpetuate a hoax.

Or, perhaps not. If there's money to be made, some people might try anything.
