TRANSFORMERS Debuts Around the Clock
By: Jarrod Sarafin, News Editor

We already knew that Transformers was getting pushed ahead of its release date to Monday, July 1st. This gives Pixar's Ratatouille only 3 days and Live Free or Die Hard 5 days (Six if you include midnight showings). It seems to go beyond that for Transformers though. They're literally invading theaters planning to overrun the box office competition.

A source inside the industry has informed me that while Transformers opening on Monday gives it a sizeable advantage over its competition, it also has something else going for them.He goes on to tell me that Paramount & Dreamwork's film will also have 24 hour straight showings in the top 10 movie theaters in the country for 2 days straight.

Yes, that's correct. The top 10 theaters in the country will be showing Transformers around the clock for 2 days straight from Monday thru Wednesday. 48 straight hours of coverage on all their screens.

This is going to be an invasion, Maniacs.

seth: Don't you feel like it takes away from the authenticity of your collection?
ams: Dude, you own three different unlicensed City Commander toys and a half dozen fake third-party Prime trailers. WTH?

..err, the top 10 theaters or the top 10 markets?
What are the top 10 theaters? Would 10 theaters really make that big of a difference?

Man, I wish I was home now!

Japan sucks...at times. I have to wait until 8/4 to see the movie, and those of you in the States get it for a full 48-hours non stop!

Crazy! ...reminds me of Episode I when it was released.

Wow. Take a tent and camp at the back - No matter when you woke up they'd be showing Transformers - Cool!

Being called an 'idiot' by a fool sort of cancels things out I reckon..

48 hours straight? I don't know exactly how much revenue that would bring in, but just to hear that, I think Dreamworks and Paramount went alittle overboard with the promotion now.

The single most important decision of the entire Transformers movie: Will there, or will there not, be an extra on the DVD featuring the Autobots dancing to Michael Jackson's Thriller? It would be like getting hit by an atomic bomb of awesome, and you know it. Copy this into your signature right now!

How does one know if there's a top 10 in the area? I'd love to go to like a 3am showing....
