I stopped by Comic Book Ink in Tacoma, WA to pick up some of the TF card game packs. In the three packs I bought, I got Mirage, Swerve, Smokescreen, Blackout, Dropkick, and Wreckage. Here are some pics of what they look like.
Vehicle Modes:
From left to right we have Mirage, Smokescreen, and Swerve:

The whole gang:
The game sounds simple enough, but these things are a pain in the arse to "transform." The instructions, such as they are, are not clear at all and the pictures on their stat cards are really tiny. I was hoping to get Jazz in one of these packs, but I wasn't so lucky. Guess I'll wait for these to hit ebay so I won't have to buy more packs. You get two TFs, an instruction booklet, and a card of punch-out counters and gems for the gameplay. Its basically paper-rock-scissors and you don't need the minatures to even play the game. If you think that you will transform them each time you change form, you might as well gouge your eyes out because its a pain. I just left min in the same form.
With the game only needing the cards, I think this game will fail. I will probably be able to just print off cards in the near future and use those.
Wizards is going to make more money off the counter-suit to Wizkids over the game format. |

There's strategy (took me a while to find it), but it more or less revolves around making your opponent either wary of your choosing a certain color, or thinking you'll choose a certain color. And the strategy part...is basically "I'm melee/long-range".
Pirates is still the best constructable strategy game ever.

The vehicles are cool and it is kinda fun to make them. Bot modes suck all kinds of ass. Once I get Jazz, Prime, megs, blackout, and Scorpy I'm done. Hopefully Blackout as well.. |
