IDW News from Wondercon 2007

Read the full article here. A few things we know here, but it's nice to have it all confirmed and dated.

- April will also see a new Transformers: Spotlight issue focused on Kup. Written and drawn by Nick Roche, it will be a lot darker then what we are used to from Transformers.

- For Transformers, look for The Transformers: Megatron Origin where we will learn about Megatron’s backgound and understand why he is the way he is.

- There will be a Best of Don Figueria art book released in May with a similar book collecting writer Simon Furman’s best work later in the year.

- June will be a big month for Transformers as the industry prepares the release of the movie on July 4. Alex Milne is handling the pages for an adaptation of the movie. IDW plans to release the comic on a weekly basis. Look for this and the prequel to be collected as TPB and released right before the movie hits theaters. According to Dan, the prequel is officially sanctioned and they worked directly with Hasbro, Paramount and Dreamworks to tie this in with the movie.

- Transformers: Spotlight Galvatron will be written by Simon Furman and art by Guido Guidi.

- September is when the next major story-arc for Transformers starts. Written by Simon Furman and EJ Su on art, the series is called “Devastation”.

- Dan stated that when it comes to Dreamwave Transformers stuff, right now all IDW can do is re-release stuff that was already published. They can’t touch the stuff that was in the works by them at this time. IDW is working on a More than Meets the Eye guide book for Beast Wars.

What iteration? We're not talking movie continuity, I hope?

Nothing especially exciting there, sadly. I'll pick up the movie prequel issues, and most likely the Megatron origin, thats about it. Kup, Galavtron, and BW Profiles don't really interest me.

Thay said right now all they can do is re-release previously published material. That's not final, it's just delayed by DW's legal issues for now.

GalvaTRION, I love your Ninja Gaiden avatar!
On topic, I am very interested in seeing the Galvatron Spotlight, and seeing where they go with the character since he's supposed to be seperate from Megatron this time around.

Wait a tick...in the picture there...that's Unicron's head. I thought Furman said he was going to steer away from the whole Unicron/Primus can of worms.
My Friends, let us take a fresh look at the ineffable and see if we might not eff it after all.

It's only the prospective cover art, it may or may not have anything to do with the actual story.
