How's about everyone stop fighting and get back to the topic at hand? Like it or not, that's basically what Frenzy will be in this film.

To me, my only problems are the funky head and the four arms. It *does* look like a blend of Grievous and that ATHF elf/bot thing. But the general feel of it isn't that bad for what he's supposed to be. If he's small enough to fit in a car, you can't expect too much in terms of bulk and height. As is they stretched him far enough and he still barely reaches 4'. He's not one to stand and fight, he'll sneak up behind ya, slit you open, then change into his alt mode and wait till it's all clear. This is basically what Soundwave did in the first episodes of TF (minus the slitting you open), but seeing as he doesn't become a 20' tall robot, it's a bit more believable.

As for how big TFs will become, that will depend entirely on this film alone regardless of any prior canon. LoTR became so huge because it had something for everyone. Action, drama, comedy, suspense, etc etc etc, not many films do that as well as LoTR did. In fact, and I know annecdotal evidence means absolutely nothing, I have a bunch of friends who knew nothing about LoTR, made fun of me for liking LoTR and when they finally saw it, loved the movie. They still don't care about the book, or the romance or the drama or the story, but it had awesome action scenes and that's enough to be a great movie to many people.

Transformers already is far more different then anything we've seen in Hollywood for longer then I can remember. We've *never* had giant robots in a big blockbuster film before (no Robotjox and Wotw do not count) so this is already something unique. But to take those robots and make them sentient AND disguise them as real vehicles is just something that has never been done. It will stand out for that, and will draw a lot of curiosity, but it's success will be based purely on how well the film itself is done and none of our opinions, good or bad, will really affect it.

    Whoops! Sorry.
It's so rare these days that whenever I see unconditional praise for something movie-related, my jaded cynical brain assumes it to be sarcasm.

well, the movie designers surely can surpass people expectations, i'll give them that. because i knew this guy would be one of the 3 designs i wouldn't like, but i didn't knew i would dislike it so much!

i'm glad that the robot chicken dies in the movie, but he's also one of the TFs that get more screen time as far i know.

Wow...I can honestly say this is the first movie design I have COMPLETELY hated. To echo some other posts, it looks like a giant mecha-chicken.

I do like the CD blades, though.

What a mess.... guess Starscream isn't the ugliest TF in the movie then....

Pros: at least Hasbro was able to produce a reasonable toy. You gotta admit that the Frenzy toy that pops out of Barricade resembles this design.

Cons: the Frenzy toy that comes with Barricade is horrible. So's this design.

THE HELL?!! Now I do hate Michael Bay! (not really ... ok, yeah I do) :mad  :mad

How dares he deprives us of Scarlett Johanson's nudeness.... mmm... Scarlett Johanson.

Hey! I'm also bilingual (trilingual if you count the very basic Japanese I understand), and I couldn't understand a word of what Sabed posted! :D

Now, tell me how does it pay? :p

Sounds a lot like a cartoon I used to watch when I was younger. :p

It's the easiest, but not the only one.

I don't know if any of you saw one of GM's commercials during the Superbowl. It's about one of those assembling machines getting fired from the car factory. The machine doesn't have a face ... its face is the claw designed to grab screws ... and yet that commercial made it possible for that machine to emote.

If it can be done with a machine with no face, I expect much more to be accomplished by the current movie designs.

Who's throwing away what has come before for this new reimagining? I can like the new movie and still like my G1 and my Beast Wars, and my G1/G2 comics. You too are allowed to like both ... liking the movie aesthetic doesn't mean you're betraying the G1 characters and history. They're forever.

@ Cory Bauer: I may not agree to how Akumaxv has posted in this thread, but I agree with him that he has contributed to movie related discussions, with well thought out posts, and IIRC he hasn't been offensive.

So Far I dig the designs, sure Megatron leaves a lot to be desired, but this thing I don't like. It's cool and all, but I don't think it totally fits Frenzy. Who I think should be more like a Terminator. Now if this was Laser Beak I might be more accepting. I won't say its horrible but its not great.
