After seeing the toy prototype with the legs stretched out,i actually understand & accept the chicken legs. Hopefully the design will grow on me in time...

I think that Starsream is a bigger deal to the fandom then Takara/Hasbro realize. Besides Prime and Megs, he is generally one of the most popular characters. We are picky when it comes to the screamer, just look at fan feedback to MP04.

Head of a chicken (looks like beak and slits for eyes), body and arms of gorilla and legs of a dog. Yikes it is hideous looking.

    A new Fuzor maybe? :lol

Does anybody else find that this Starscream's head is reminiscent of the heads found on a lot of B.E.S.P.A. mecha (the bad guys) in Victory Gundam?

It's something that's been nagging at me since the first leaked proto images of Movie Starscream.

Now, this I actually like. Completely different, yea, but it's got real character to it. The toys have blown, but he'll be awesome in-film.

I guess it's alright, I mean not in the same league as Optimus, Jazz, Megatron or the others. But I'll deal with it. It's AT LEAST better then the Frenzy pic posted on the board

I guess the toy is movie accurate after all :lol

Well, in G1, somehow Megatron was *bigger* than Starscream in robot mode, than in alt-mode.. but I do have to disagree with you, since we haven't really seen 2007 Megatron next ot 2007 SS. I'm pretty confident Megs is bigger than SS, so SS is still the gnat.

Snarkiness aside ( :)  ), my beef is in the physical ugliness of the the new design .. I mean he looks like a freaking MONKEY, the seekers were so elegant.. I think this is where we disagree. Feel free to defend your love of the monkey form :)

I tapped out after about 3 episodes of V Gundam, but I remember what some of the suits looked like. I see what you're saying. It probably wasn't intentional, but I see a parallel. Wait... I just checked, and you're exactly right. Everyone check this out and look at the head:

Sometimes, a designer needs a good smack in the back of the head when they make something like this knowing the name it's gonna be stuck with...Needless to say, HORRIBLE design.

You know, he's kind of grown on me more, at first I was sort of like "I like everything but Megatron and Starscream." but the more I see of him, the more I'm starting to like the design.

I'm impressed that they've been able to compress the mass of an F-22A into a robot that doesn't completely tower over everyone else, but I'm not a fan of the resulting design (FYI, I do like what they've done with most of the movie designs).

I personally have no problem with Starscream being much taller than everyone else, but I understand that from a story telling standpoint it is easier for him to be nearly the same height as the rest of the 'bots. Historically in Transformers fiction, a character's height has been proportional to their fighting power, and Starscream just doesn't fit the role of best fighter. Also, it would takes away from the menace of Megatron, and that should be an important focus of a new Transformers mythos.

I like the idea of Starcream being the tallest but most fragile of the Decepticons; that could be a decent motivation for him to avoid direct combat and to rely more on underhanded hit and run tactics and backstabbing. But really, I've avoided reading the leaked scripts, so I'm in no posiiton to second guess the plot line, and I'm still optimistic that I'll like the movie.
