I didn't like these new movie designs and deep down inside, I'd probably rather have more of a G1 look. But, after seeing these scans, I can't help but be excited for the toy line and the movie!:rock

Better start saving my money now.

i recall when we first saw the prime toy there was two versions. This to me is clearly the second. Is the first one an earlier prototype or is there a chance of getting it? Because it looked much more in proportion than this fat dude.

    I love jazz.

That was a smaller toy (about Voyager sized) that willl probably be released later on.
In Armada and Energon the big $40 Prime always came first and was followed later on by a deluxe one.

    Dude,,,, Jihaxus!

(Solves that whole annoying "I hate buggy Starcream" thing for me.)

    Looking forward too:

70's Retro-Bee (need a new character for him though)
    Barricade
Optimus looks REALLY impressive in that pic,,,, gonna have to ruminate on that for a while.

Where are Blackout, Ironhide, Rachet and Bonecrusher? and if THEY are missing,,,:confused2  what else is?

The Prime blaster seems to have switched arms. When we saw the packaging for it earlier it was a left arm, now it's a right. :sly:

So far, I'm not seeing anything here that I'd actually want to have sitting on one of my display shelves.

THIS ... is the reason Hasbro's doing the TF movie. When children see this movie (and they will), I honestly think they'll go out of their minds at the sight of these gigantic transforming robots creating a whirlwind of destruction and mayhem.

...and then? They'll have these awesome toy versions to recreate the movie battles, in addition to some of their own.

    Badass TF toys. 'Nuff said.

I really find fans who cant accept new designs irksome, and yet no matter how much I try, I cant like the movie designs myself. Sometimes I'll see a test shot that will almost convince me that there are good figures in the line, but then I'll see the same figure from a different angle and it'll be crap all over again. While I appreciate the posting of these scans, the scans themselves just aren't selling it to me. Although oddly, I kind of like the Protoform designs.

On the one hand I want this to be a success, because I want Hasbro to have all the success they can get. The more money they make, the more risks they can take (unless I'm mistaken, the success of Armada was what gave Hasbro enough funding to make the Alternators). So to everyone who does like these designs, I'm glad you do. But on the other hand, I dont want it to be a HUGE success, because I REALLY dont want to see a sequel (yes I know, I havent seen the movie so I cant judge it yet, but I really dont want to have to sit through the hype machine again in 3 years).

One thing I am definitely grateful for, though, is the Real Gear figures. If the only reason we got these figures is because of the movie line, then god bless the movie line, because the Real Gear figures are pure love

I don't think it really was that different of a chest... if you compare it to the other pictures, the headlights are the same, etc. The only difference is that the pieces of the chest are not fully folded in... I suspect it was either a weird battle mode, mid-transformation, or something like that...

And, if I recall correctly from the full-body picture of that shot I saw from where-ever that was, the rest of prime is completely identical.

Amen, man. The figures grew on me. I definately need myself a Jazz (he looks great! He actually looks very G1-ish, you know, if Solstice's existed in the 80's), a 1970's Camaro Bumblebee, a Prime, and a Barricade.

When are all these being released anyways?

Subtle qualification: You don't like them; they aren't "awful"". The mere fact that I do like them proves otherwise.

Note that I don't say they're "great" - I say "I like them". I like them a lot and look forward to their release.
Sorry to be anal, but I don't believe anything with that level of engineering can be dismissed as "awful" simply because it deviates from an established convention.

BB actaully looks better there. Good to finally see the bot mode of the main Jazz toy. Still disappointed brawl is a ssmall as the cars though. And smaller than Ratchet, and maybe Ironhide if he's voyager class too. Why couldn;t they have tried to keep them vaguely is scale with each other? *cries*

ok, I;m over that little paddy now...

I'm guessing Ulimate Bumblebee will be the new Camaro. He may be the only one I get if he is super movie accurate.

They're ok. I'll wait until I see them in stores. Not terribly impressed overall.

I'm really disappointed with Prime. I may still get him, but this photo really makes him look bad (IMO of course). His upper body is simply too large when compared to his legs. He has a huge torso, and his arms are gorilla-like, and I'm really not liking the head-sculpt. The paint really takes away from this one. I'm hoping that the photoshop is to blame, because right now I'm feeling pretty disappointed. I'm eagerly waiting to see what that smaller prototype will look like in colour and in vehicle mode.

Looking at the proto, the uniform grey colouring makes his legs appear large. Here, the red fenders and dark tires really stand out against his small legs. Its like MP-Megs only amplified. I just can't see those chicken feet holding up his gorilla-body. The truck-mode is absolutely fantastic though. The best vehicle mode Prime has EVER had.

Jazz is looking allright. Still kind of worried wbout whether his windows are transparent or not. Bumblebee on the other hand apparently DOES have painted windows, which is an automatic no-sale for me. Way to ruin an awesome alt-mode.

EVERY SINGLE ONE of the main toys will grace my shelves. I'm floored just to see new designs.

I've grown tired of seeing the original G1 designs rehashed. So much so that I'm sick of my Masterpiece Prime and I think that I'll cancel my MP Megs. They are beautiful to me but carry no play value (just mild transforming and posing every so often) because I'm so worried about them falling over. Paid too much for it to break. Also, I prefer a more true to life transformation scheme.

It's just nice to have something so DIFFERENT than what I've had for the past 20 years!

I think Prime's the victim of a really poor pose that makes it look too bulky. I need to see more of it.

Jazz. Well, i can't frickin' judge it until I see better picks.

Brawl looks like shit. I just don't like it.

    Barricade looks okay.

Bumble looks good, but I hate painted windows. We'll see.

    Megatron looks better painted.

That ;eader class prime looks pretty good with paint. Nice paint apps, even though I'm sure some of it is photoshoping for the package. Wonder why the other Prime figure isn't listed with the other deluxes.
