Page of preview for Spotlight: Kup in April

I know some are gonna gripe about the faces, but I think it'll be as fun as it is different.

Roll on April!

Oh, and Optronyx, it's gonna be in color but subtle--you'll see.

Richter, Nick approached us about writing a Kup story, and once I saw his outline and saw that he really seemed capable (Simon's set the bar pretty high, so I have to be sure of these things), I was all for it.

Hasbro don't make 'em like they used to. Thanks to aricosaur!

I can't stand it. Plus I've always thought that Kup was a terrible character, a second rate replacement for Ironhide at best. Pass.

Hot hot hot!

I love it when a publisher lets an artist use his own style instead of sticking to a house style. That looks fantastic!

Man, they were totally different characters. Ironhide was the good 'ol boy drinking buddy who would throw back some brews with Optimus at the bar or the bowling alley. If any of the townies wanted to start shit because Prime looked at thier girl the wrong way, Ironhide would step up and smack some sense into them.

Kup is the "Hey you damn kids, get offa' my lawn!" and the "back in my day" type of guy.

Maybe so, but he was still a decidedly second-rate grumpy old guy compared with Ironhide.

I never saw Ironhide as much of a grump -- more as an oldtimer still ready to mix it up with anyone, and often managing to land himself in more trouble with that recklessness.

One of the few characters I think of the cartoon more than the comic with, 'cause it wasn't until years afterwards I read Target 2006.

Whereas Kup knows he's an old fart and acts it.

I agree that Ironhide rules (and is one of my favorite Autobots) but grumpy old Kup is cool too.
