Frank Welker Days Away From Signing on for Movie Megatron?

Well, I ain't gonna lie about it...I've been checking this site and others every few hours to hear verification that Welker will be Megatron.

As far as his G1 voice goes, I want his G1 voice. That's Megatron to me, not Hugo Weaving playing Megatron or David Kaye doing Beast Wars Megatron or anyone else for that matter. Or even him coming up with a new one...though he could EASILY do so if it were required of him.

He's older, but then, they all are. I rather like the way age has seasoned their voices. Admittedly, I think Welker needs to practice a bit more on his G1 Megatron voice, considering he was a bit off during the allspark soundbite, but I do believe he's still got it. And I hope to hear it again on July 7th for the first time in over 20 f'n years.

This is definitely off subject but, oh man, a live action G.I. Joe flick would be a cake walk compared to Transformers. Make it similar to the feel of the Incredibles, both in design (keep the design consistant, over-the-top yet still familiar) and story (simple core story); you got yourself a sure hit.

HELL YEAH, given what I was saying in another thread, about hte juxtiposition of the blokes appearance and his speaking voice/his manner Hugo Weaving would be brilliant at conveying a deeply intellectual Megatron, who is also a sadistic psychopathic monster, a la Hannibal Lector.

so far the movie crew didn't showed us any sign of G1 fan boy fetishism (besides maybe cullen's role, but as far as i know we had to push very hard for that to happen)

G1 megs voice (as in TFTM) + higher voice distortion (by higher i mean amount of distortion, not pitch ) = awesome!! even for that design and in cybertronian language. but of course i hope he gets to say at least a few lines in english.

it would be cool if frank wait til the 21st that's my birthday would be a best present ever

Any news on this?

IGN just reported that on Dec 8th he had not been approached to do the role.
