I don't agree with the mindset that this (or the movie, or anything else for that matter) is "tainting" G1. G1 ended in the early 90's, it is done, sealed, crystalized in time in all its glory. Having new molds based on the G1 characters, in my opinion, doesn't in any way take away from what was G1. Now if they were coming to our houses, scooping up our G1 toys and telling us that the Takara Police have scheduled them for re-painting in KISS-motif, then I would see the problem. As is, this is just an avenue to getting more varied versions of classic molds.

It's just like when people complain that a movie adaption has ruined a classic book. It didn't take the book away.... people can still always go back and read it if they want to. And they are free to ignore the movie.

I guess one could argue that doing the KISS versions, or movie toys or whatever, is sapping up resources and somehow keeping them from re-issuing G1 toys. Or that bad toys will somehow turn potential collectors against G1 retroactively. But really, I think these exist quite separately from G1.

Just my humble opinion, I know there are many cogent arguments to the contrary. :)

Are you sure? They look like orange opaque plastic with some reflective stickers.

Based on their bios, they don't have anything to do with Kiss Play. But that doesn't mean they won't be in the radio show. Hasn't Takara-Tomy already "tainted" G1 since this is G1 Convoy and G1 Hot Rodimus? I personally welcome the repaints and any fiction Takara-Tomy may give them.

Well, tack on Autrooper for purchase. I need to come up with another name for him though. Autrooper or anything close to that seems rather weird.

I think a lot of folks (myself included) have decided to just call him Streetwise. He's a sporty Japanese police car, and he has a mostly white head with a visor. Close enough:

And hey, in a way, he's even a "combiner"..... if, er, making out with a little Japanese nurse counts as "combining." Maybe her code name could be First Aid..... bringing a heretofore unknown level of kink to the Protectobots! :p

No buy. I'll show my support (or my last hope) for TakTom by buying MP-5.

I was thinking more of Clampdown, Checkpoint, or Barricade or some name that I was going to make up. Not sure which one yet though.

Look up his voice works. And the bios of his characters he voiced. I don't hate Nanba himself. I just find all his Non-Transformers voicework...odd. Except for his Saint Seiya related voicework.

Me too. I might see one today too. But I dunno. $60 for just the figure? I don't plan on keeping the figure, box, or cd.

I was thinking that the cassettes were molds from G1.

Anyways, I think with this line, I've been more concerned about the "tainting" (or whatever term one chooses to adhere to the concept) of the Binal Tech line.

Regardless, the "Binal Techs" created for the Kiss Players line look cool. :thumb
