Between this, the Revolution arc, and the ass-backward order in which Titans Return is being released (#1, #4, #2, #5, #3), I have cancelled my IDW subscriptions in protest. I will continue to purchase MTMTE & Lost Light trade paperbacks, but I'm done with everyone else. I may be in the minority, but I absolutely hated Dark Cybertron. At the time, I said if one more "event" gets in the way of storytelling, I'm out.
I hated Dark Cybertron too. It was such low quality and terrible art and it should have been something that I loved. More doesn't always mean better. In this case worse. It was the same with the "epic" conclusion with Galvatron and all those sweeps and I couldn't tell what was going on so never really sure what happened. Should have also been a story I loved but it was just crap.
And more Livio...sigh. Really wish IDW and Hasbro would make amends with Don Fig-his is the definitive transformers art(when he's not giving them Bayformers faces) and he is sorely missed.
and now we're back to infodumping for newcomers. thats why reboots annoy so many long-time readers, we have to read everything we already know over and over again.
or use literally ANY of the other Actually TALENTED artists they have in their stable. like maybe Sarah Stone, Alex Milne, Josh Burcham, Matt Frank, Hayato Sakamoto, Pricilla Tramontano......the list goes on. hell at this point i'd Rather see Pat Lee (couchembezzelmentcough) or Yuki Oishima (coughKissplayerscough) on art duties
On top of that, I cannot fathom how an opening like this (or the Revolution preview) is supposed to be friendly for newcomers. I mean, who the heck can be bothered to get up to speed with years of storylines condensed into a few pages of rambling dialogue? Why not just pick a few key cast members from each franchise and introduce them organically, like you were telling a story from the start? The other characters can hang around in the background - recognisable to long-term fans but essentially just extras for the time being.
Dark Cybertron for the most part was stupid and pointless. They could've used that regeneration ore to restore a few bots that were necessarily killed but instead they resurrect Metal Hawk only for him to die again. Combiner Wars wasn't much better but I consider it a necessary evil.
I dunno, it seems within the realm of possibility (all things considered). Considering the stun gun was directly pressed to Blitzwing's head, he would still be getting the brunt of the electric current, and whatever electricity gets discharged into the surrounding water would likely dissipate fairly quickly. The only other person who might be affected is Kup due to his proximity, but he's probably enough of a hardass to take it.
We're wrapping up a plot thread where G.B. Blackrock either wittingly or unwittingly developed and distributed source code that ...somehow... turned the entirety of Earth into an Enigma of Combination and; at Galvatron's say so, was able to telepathically combine/de-combine any Cybertronian of his choosing. All of which, was only foiled when Superion hacked said source code with his mind and was able to disrupt the effect of this code by separating back into the Aerialbots, stating that the 'Earth Enigma' will never function again so long as Superion is not re-formed. ...I'm okay with a stun gun under water.
Looks like Sky Lynx is chillin on the water. That or he thinks he's a sea turtle. Looking at the Aerialbots that are present in the same panel is anyone hoping IDW does some scrabble city combining soon?
