We're back to share another Transformers toy gallery with you, and next up, it's Robots in Disguise Starscream! A Toys R Us exclusive as a part of the second year of the Clash of the Transformers subline, Starscream is a part of an assortment with a redeco Power Surge Optimus Prime and Beast Wars Scorponok homage Paralon.

Starscream as a toy is good, and fun to mess around with. He's got a good range of articulation, and it is all largely uninhibited, except that the shoulders occasionally catch on the wings. The robot mode looks great, and I'm particularly fond of how the wings sweep back from the shoulders like a cape. The overall look is a hybrid of Animated and Classics Starscream, with a few cues from Starscream's 1986 coronation look thrown in. The transformation is fun and straightforward, but also has some clever moment, such as how the wings wrap around. The shoulders and arms do stay stuck out of the side of the jet - the tops of the shoulders are more visible in some angles than others, and the arms peg in with the hands tucked away so you can say they are engines, but ultimately those parts do kind of just hang there.

Overall, Starscream is a solid figure in the Robots in Disguise Warrior class and one who I've enjoyed playing with. He's not the absolute best figure in the size class, but he is a lot of fun as a desk toy to pick up and fiddle with. Check out our gallery to see what you think of him:

Looks good but I don't want another Starscream. Hopefully he gets retooled into a non seeker bot.

I think it looks decent, wish it had more paint apps(as with all RID figures). Thanks for the comparison shots Sol! I was looking forward to see how it compared with its predecessors.

Damn Animated Starscream has aged well!

This looks great! It fixes my biggest gripe with Prime Starscream (a boring monochrome colorless paintjob) by adding in some of that much-needed red and blue, plus the bits of design borrowed from Animated Starscream work very well.

Hope a customizer will make this one into a slipstream since the name being in use already in the cartoon means she unfortunately will once again not be showing up.

I really like the figure but the headsculpt is kind of weird. He is such a drastic departure from Prime Starscream. The other returning characters at least kept some resemblance to their prior character, Starscream looks completely new.

I want to like this guy, but then I see him next to first edition Starscream and wonder "why bother?"

Neat attempt and it looks like it will go with the other RID Warrior Decepticons well.

Having collected all the other RID Warriors, Starscream... Doesn't impress, honestly. I would have a hard time putting him above other figures in the line. He just doesn't look that great (this coming from a guy who has been enjoying the line for the most part).

I'll probably get him. He's still an alright figure. But being an TRU exclusive scares me as they're always marked up...

I'm not feeling it. The head sculpt is nice, but that jet mode is a mess.

    Pretty much this.

Say, can his guns tab into FE Starscream's arms? Those slots look about the right size for the pegs that hold his missiles.

Love him. What a great bot mode!! Jet mode is nice, at least the worst kibble is in the back. I'd pick him up - if I ever can find him.

EDIT - Hope they do repaints!

I always wondered why almost everyone's design in RID looks like something from G1 or Animated or a mixture of the two.

Nice alt mode, nice colours, but damn that robot mode just does not suit him.

Bring on the repaints and retools please.

Great review and pics, this and Paralon is the perfect excuse for me to dabble in the new RID line.

He's all right and very likely I will get him.

Still hoping for Voyager-sized Seekers one day.

On the other hand, seeing as it's a completely made-up "Cybertronian" jet mode, there's no consideration how big he should be. Will look okay next to Windblade.
