The most satisfying ending I can see at this point, is if Megs has managed to outsmart Tarn and faces up to the fact he can't always shy away from violence...by apologising to Tarn, just before killing him. Something like:

*Megatron holding Tarn by the throat*
"My fists undid what my words once stood for. Tainted them. And you were a product of that, Tarn. A wounded philosophy taken physical form; hidden behind that brand. For that I am sorry. Sorry for your loyalty in what I am. What I was. I renounced violence, for better or worse, but it has now fallen to my hands to once again end what my words began."

Nah, but seriously, who the hell knows where they're really going with this (besides Mr Roberts)?

 

Megatron walked out angrily blasting last issue. I'm not normally one to say "Roberts has a plan", but I'm willing to bet the master tactician who fought for 4 million years figured he could get rid of Overlord by pretending to cower behind a shield.

Imagine that you spend most of your life obsessing about getting revenge on someone, then when finally presented with the opportunity you find out they're a broken shell of a being...might change your perspective on how satisfying the revenge would be. To Overlord, he doesn't need to kill Megatron, because he thinks the Megatron he knew is already dead.

 

Here's hoping.

 

Wait a minute...new thought. Crazy thought.

The Autobots forgave Megatron and put him in with them despite being responsible for so much death, damage and destruction for millions of years.

What happens if Megatron wants them to extend the same forgiveness...

to *Tarn*??!?

Ah, whoops. I posted the MTMTE 55 preview as a seperate post before I saw this.

 

I hope so. It seems weird even within the context of Megs behaviour even earlier in #54 as you note otherwise.

 

In the other preview it looked like he was sitting watching TV. The only way to explain the vast amount of time that's passed while he's been doing this is he was watching directors cuts of all Lord Of The Rings and Hobbit movies.

 

I see your complaint. Personally I think it could be an act of mercy. Basically anyone who doesn't retreat can leave now and whoever stays gets gutted. That and it's an easy way to allow for a one on one between Megs and Tarn. Pretty disappoint I won't see Megatron kill Overlord though.

The device they used was the one that causes them all to come to the planet in the first place. The whole mind distress stuff. I agree they didn't really need to do that but it didn't really bother me all that much.

 

Megatron isn't cowering. He's been overcome with guilt over the hundreds of billions of people he has killed. I expect him to go into full meltdown mode after this and get all weepy...before he either dies or goes back to leading the decepticons.

 

Damn it, Now I really want my full-sized KO MetroTitan/Dystopia.

I wish the Manufacturor hadn't cancelled on TF-Direct.

 

Hey, they're getting rid of all those other 'Cons... Why were they ever in this story, again? Oh, that's right, so we could get some random pictures of the main cast killing them in "cool" ways. That is, if you define "cool" as effortlessly killing enemies in one hit, and not actually having to struggle to overcome anything. God this arc has been a complete waste.

Edit: Also, I completely agree with all this.

 

There is some merit to these criticisms. Two things worth pointing out, however:
(1) Anything that's happening in this preview is being influenced by the "guilt" ray that's being pointed at all of them.
(2) It's just a preview... We see Megatron cowering in these pages, but we don't know what's happening inside of him or what he's about to do. The story wasn't written to be revealed just a few pages at a time; these things could make more sense by the end of the issue.

 

So the big McGuffin of Swerve and Rewind could have been used a lot sooner... save us from the trauma of losing one of the characters we read MTMTE for. but.

it also gives way to the big reveal from Comic-Con who else will be joining Team Megs/Rodimus, it's been hinted at since the first issue of Season 2.

Thunderclash will save the day by showing up too late to do anything and be their ride off the planet.

 

It was established when they were lured to the necrobot's planet through nightmares. The source was this weapon. It's based on aequitas tech.

 

I would've preferred to see Deathsaurus turn without this psychic gun. And Overlord leaving all of a sudden is a let down. We could've used more panels to expand on it at least.

At least my mental picture of Overlord's arrival and his fight with Tarn pretty damn awesome.

 

No, it couldn't. Deathsaurus wouldn't have had any guilt to feel if his men hadn't died in the fight. The weapon literally only works at this point in the story.

 

Wait, can you point me to where this got discussed? Seems like a pretty big reveal for it to be mentioned @ Comic-con!

 

I think Megatron thought using a cannon was the quickest way to dispatch the others. He's been on and on about controlling his rage, so he's probably thinking he'll lose self control and revert back to his old self if he got into it mano a mano.
