What a shame that the movies didn't use a design like this

Confusingly enough, they are doing two lines of statues that are 'movified G1'. But one is current movie style (the above concept art), while the 2nd is more G1 reboot (the statue). Likewise they're also doing TWO different Megatrons, the one with the tank thread cape, and a more G1 statue seen in silhouette in the upcoming product tease.

Looks cool as Hell, but is there really a market for a $1k non-transforming Transformers statue?

    HAWT.

Damn, if the movie designs looked half as good as this, I'd A) be totally broke on movie shit, B) would probably have j'd my pants in the theater.

Considering that their other products cost 1300(!) more and sell like hotcakes? Absolutely. :lol

Looks fantastic, but I have to question why they used Livio Ramondelli "floaty light bits" in the photos.

Pretty much this. THAT is what a "real life" take on the character in live action movies should have looked like.

He is truly stunning. Exactly what I wish Movie Prime had been.

I just wish I could afford him for my collection.

Looks impressive though that said I'm actually fine with how Movie Prime looks already because he manages to be different yet still retains a lot of the classic Optimus Prime traits he has whereas this is just the G1 design but with more detail thus doesn't have the same flair of uniqueness the Movie Prime we have now does. I wouldn't mind seeing something like this for the eventual reboot though.

I wish the Hot Toys figure could have looked like this, or that this was jointed.

That's how I imagined the Transformers movies were going to look with their designs. But alas the rest is history.

Looks awesome. Love the G1'ish look - modernized.

But, what's with the base? Why a rock looking base? The base should be more Cybertron - not rock. Hot Toys had a rock base stand too - hated it, but at least did not have to use it. With this one, you are stuck with the rock...

All the people sitting here saying "this is what the designs should have looked like in the movies," but I'm here much happier with the ones we got (for the first 3 movies, at least).

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Seriously, it's 9 years later guys. Pretty much every other Transformers media is G1-centric. I think it's OK to switch it up for a bit, especially when the brand is built on, uh, change.

I just don't understand Transformers prices as of late. Who in their right mind is paying for these statues, blu-rays, and Platinum edition sets? I want to understand but having a real hard time with it.

See. This is the kind of robot design we need to see in the movies.

This is what the designs should've looked like in the movies.

I thought that was the case, though was expecting this one to be even more G1 so surprised they both carry a little of the movie aesthetic.
