I'm a bit worried with them being less toys and more content developer.

How much content does Hasbro themselves actually develop? They basically license out some designs they hold copyrights/trademarks to companies who will produce shows/games/movies/comics, etc... Hasbro might keep some veto power, but they usually seem to let these companies do whatever they want as far as stories and updated character designs go, and Hasbro then follows their lead as far as toy designs go.

How many of the actual Transformers toys did Hasbro develop in house over the years? Pretty much all of the core design work to this day comes from Takara. Hasbro handles the characters and IP side.

Yeah, seriously. WTF is that thing on the right??? :lolol
Are you sure Hasbro doesn't demand more than that? Seems like they push ideas/agendas on the content developers with toy designs already in mind/finished. It'd be nice if they sat back and let some talented folks push the brand in the right direction, but... look at RID: that show is a direct result of their market research telling them that Prime was too dark. And what we got for that interference is an RB-like kiddy cartoon about chasing Decepticons with clubs and words! :rolleyes2  (I seriously "love" the scene at the end of S1, where Steeljaw is running away with the ENTIRE AUTOBOT TEAM behind him, but no one can take a shot and put him down before he is able to cut loose a barge and send it floating toward a boat. :wtf:  Well, guess we'll let him go to save those people... but at least we didn't use any evil guns! :D  :thumb  GO GO AUTO-LIBERAL-BOTS! :D ). It's hard to believe removing guns from warring robots is the decision of the content-makers, but hey, times have changed?

Anyway, it's always nice to see Hasbro promote TF: The Movie (1986) in some way, and that graphic is nice! :thumb  Is this a decision based on the poor ratings of RID? Is it an appeal for more adult clothing/items? It just seems incredibly out of place for a company keen on building the future from scratch, not legacy. In fact, one could even go so far as to wonder if they planned to re-imagine that 86 movie (the only feasible motive), as they continue to push the new media despite resistance from audience and critic alike. (Yeah, Hasbro is "celebrating" 30 yrs of TFs, but that 86 movie should have a lot more fanfare than its getting, so I consider their effort laughably terrible).

Hasbro rarely develops entire toys in house, but they generally do all the 'creative' design work, developing art for how the robot and alt modes will look and presumably roughing out transformations so they know it's something than can actually exist as a physical object. That's then turned over to Takara who then develop the engineering for the toy and create the mold. Hasbro obviously then designs the decoes for their releases of the moulds too.

Of course, this isn't the case for lines like Masterpiece that are Takara-initiated.

The fact he's on a poster with main Autobots, (Prime, Bee, Rodimus) and main Decepticons, (Megatron, Starscream and Soundwave), makes me wonder why we've never seen him before. I also just noticed Laserbeak and Swoop.

Hasbro sounds like a friend of mine back in high school who couldn't draw, couldn't program, and, when it came down to it, wrote very little, but talked up being the idea man for a hundred different projects. 35 years ago, a few people turned Diaclone and Microchange into something novel and they've skated on that ever since. What have they done besides buy Kenner, buy Tonka, outspend ToyBiz, say "hey action director guy, make another explosion movie, except this time with robots," abandon an ill-concieved "Aligned" framework, and now, with this Hascon business, merge several disparate fan bases into one faceless convention?

It took a lot more then that to even make G1 what it was, and it took a whole lot more to let it survive till today.

Here's a thought; all those other boards that feature main characters are signature boards of Primitive's pro-riders (Optimus for Paul Rodriguez, Soundwave for Bastien Salabanzi, etc.), whereas the one with the weird-camera-guy is a non-signature team-board, so a generic character for a "generic" board sort of thing and it's not actually supposed to be anyone.

Now that Hasbro has the equivalent to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Transformers, it's a big part of what they are focusing on. And the success and side properties that comes from that. I wonder if what they mean by "content developer" is their biggest racket

I believe The Loyal Subjects makes these Transformer skate decks. I used to skate all day for many many years for sponsorships even, when i was about 18 years old. Local places mostly just give me free swag, decks, but never paychecks, but i did land decks and gear from consolidated out in cali for my greatest achievment co. wise. I still imagine doing tricks off stairs every time I see them or walk down them. I used to love kick flipping down 6 stairs in the morning as a start up. Then switch flipping them later on. :p

Anyways, I was only able to skate from 12 to 31 years old. It takes a toll on your body immensely, so make sure your mostly in shape, and if your not, that your not 45 years old to avoid injury that forever stunt your life. I'm almost 40 now, I only get on my board now to teach teenagers and I stay on flat ground or hills, no drops anymore.

it always sort of surprises me , when we get so much G1 inspired art and merchandise ( shirts, hats, cups , ect ) but never get a cartoon featuring those designs, looks, feel.
