Well I decided to go with Takara for Blaster. Maybe they'll convince me to get this guy as well, which will be difficult as I do not like the look of the Hasbro one.

 

While I realize you guys may be right and Takara could certainly pull some further retooling, are we certain it doesn't mean the chest and cab were retooled from Magnus or something?

 

Could be right also. Maybe they mistranslated shins to feet, as cab, arms and shins were what were retooled from Magnus.

 

It's looking more likely that this is one figure I'll be double-dipping on. Honestly, I still like the Hasbro PM Prime version and I look forward to getting him later this month from BBTS, but I have a feeling that Takara's Ginrai will blow it out of the water.

At any rate, I already like this mold much more than the Combiner Wars one. Let's go Takara, show us some clear pics!

I'm curious to know how Takara's fiction will rectify Ginrai, since he was rebuilt into Victory Leo. Did Victory Leo decide he wanted to look like Ginrai again?

 

Based on reports from people who attended the panel, TakaraTomy's (Super)Ginrai will be released in winter.

The cab has been remolded to look like the G1 cab and the chest, arms and legs have also been modified to look closer to the G1 bot mode.

He'll still be a Headmaster though.

This was what I was assuming when I read there'd be remolding. Adding a Powermaster function seemed like a bit too much, so the obvious reason behind further remolding of the toy would be closer accuracy to the original G1 model.

Very, very excited! But winter's a pretty long time to wait...

 

Crap, winter? I may cave and buy Hasbro's version by then.
Then I'll own both PM Prime and Ginrai!  

 

Headmaster is fine for me as long as the headmaster can store in the cab in alt mode. This does sound good to me though and I will definitely be getting Takara's. This bodes well for Overlord as well as they'll probably make him Masterforce accurate even if Hasbro doesn't. Looks like my MF collection can grow beyond con exclusives and Skullgrin and Doubledealer.

 

If they're different enough, I wouldn't mind having one dedicated PMOP and one Ginrai.

Definitely getting Ginrai no matter what, though.

 

Ginrai + PM Optimus Prime retool = WIN!!

Takara haven't disappointed me with their retools yet, and I'm sure their paint apps will look just as good with the silver rims. I can't wait to see what this guy looks like!

 

If I said this could happen, I bet I would see a barrage of arguments and dismissals from those who do not know me.   So color me excited, as well as curious, when it comes to this.  

Also, as much of a Ultra Magnus fan I can afford to be, my only complaint in regards to his upgrade was his cab. It looked like something that received a 1980s face-lift.   But, even then, I am now wondering if TakaraTomy will add Powermaster Super Convoy to this... And if it will be another LG-EX piece if they do.

I was there , I think they redesigned his chest/shoulder, feet, arm and maybe face as well.

 

My guess is that they will have the Headmaster function be hidden underneath his helmet. Which will have him receive an updated feature that is similar to Star Saber's battle mode. And have Overlord receive the same, if they both decide to release them. Which I am now hoping since he is one of the more interesting Destron leaders!
