Hmm, that's a shame. Octane was my only triple-changer as a kid so I have soft spot for the character (and he was central to one of the only decent season 3 cartoons). Not so sure on the concept art though, maybe that's what killed it
Very nice. Unfortunate that it wasn't made into a real story, to suffer the same fate as that proposed Punch / Counterpunch story.
If it was used it would have been changed to "spot light Tankor", or even better "spot light tall Tankor"
He's got some weird-ass alt modes, but other than that this would've been awesome. A shame the Spotlight series seems dead, now.
Anyone else miss "Quality" TF Spotlight books? Guess the only way to get one these days is if the toy is releasing...
According to Roche, the script for the unused spotlight was the precursor for Fulcrum's backstory. Here
I guess this is as good as it can get. JUST IMAGINE HOW AWESOME THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN. At the very least, we got some good story material out of this (integrated elsewhere, of course).
Ooh, very nice. As a Season 3 fan, I wholeheartedly approve of what I'm looking at. Shame we didn't get this instead of Deviations 'What if Prime never died?'.
I've always got time for Roche and Roberts collaborations, would have read/10. At least some of the ideas from it made it to MTMTE. Nick was also talking about another pitch he made to IDW back in 2010/2011 which sounded really cool as well. In response to this tweet from Josh Perez (colourist of various TF titles and covers) saying how he'd like an X-Men style Outliers vs Outliers type title: Also of interest was this about a potential Dinobot story they're hoping to make happen I'd love it if one day Nick and James are able to do a panel where they can really go into detail about their various other pitches, things that didn't make it into the comics, ideas they used elsewhere etc.
That's too bad. I actually like Octane a lot and wish he got a new toy or something to make him relevant again.
Man, what a huge bummer this never happened. I love Octane... Fulcrum is okay (great in his debut MTMTE issue, forgettable after) but I would have loved to see that backstory get applied to my favorite flip-flopping triple-changer.
It's a shame this never was fully realized. The world needs more collabs between these two. They make a perfect team.
