Looking at the comparisons - is Fort Max still considered a heavily retooled Metroplex? Seems like they both have parts in similar.

There's a lot of shared parts but also a lot of new ones, from what I can tell.

Yea it was confirmed to be a major retool of Metroplex. Looking through a rough translation it seems the designer would like to have made him an unique mold, but due to budget restraints it wasn't possible.

Weird that all the pictures are of him and the Hasbro version.

I was hoping to get a look at Fortress' head, but the design illustrations they showed were of Cerebros. This wait is killing me.

Every time I see this figure (Hasbro or Takara) I end up drooling like Homer Simpson at a Dunkin Donuts.

I want Fort Max so bad. ESPECIALLY since I missed out on Metroplex. (Money issues, unsurprisingly, were to blame)

Huh interesting. Maybe likely because the Hasbro version is out already and the Takara one is still prototype/in production?

Hopefully we'll see Trypticon at some point soon. Maybe at SDCC.

I don't think there's any chance they're going to reveal next year's Titan before this year's Titan even hits mass retail. Did we see photos of Max before Metroplex reached TRU? Nope.

So no master sword? Just light up/sound gimmicks? Which still sounds cool, actually.

Don't think about it that way, as he says in the interview (praising himself a little bit, lol) "Any other designer, even on the Transformers Team would have given up and said impossible for this amount of parts reuse, but I wanted to make it as good as possible for being a remold"

They clearly have him doing these kind of high-level thinking at the design level items. I wish it could have been even less reuse, but he did a good job at getting at least some new parts on every limb/piece.

Also, probably holding the Hasbro version, because my guess is they only have one painted set in Japan, and they've probably already sent it out for display at Toy Show soon.

He's holding the Hasbro version because "When asked about the sounds recorded for the Japanese version of Fortress Maximus, the designer expressed that he was only in charged of the Titan Returns version of the figure, but the Japaense version will have an interesting twist. "

Looking forward to see if there were any mold changes for the Takara version
