I guess you forgot about Hasbro Masterpiece Rodimus with Offshoot.

It might have also helped if they called him Firebolt.

 

I own the Takara MP-09, but that didn't stop me from buying Offshoot separately  

 

The more i see the more i want this, hope that Grapple is not too far behind.

 

Looking forward to this so much. He's looking great.

I like the toon direction but I think he could use the 3 lines on the shins even if just slight. The arms have it and so it feels like it would have been a natural extension.

Either way he is amazing looking. The head options are exciting.

 

Inferno looks magnificent! I love that toon face/head, that's it, he shall not be displayed with any chrome bumper or chrome hose hand. This guy will be displayed in full toon mode. The other benefit, I don't have to deal with the chrome wears like MP Hot Rod. How dare they showed him carrying the red thigh Red Alert; where's the +14 Alert, lol. So the secret ladder transformation finally revealed, cool.

Cool, they show how the ladder does indeed fold into the cab! Ingenious!

 

While I wish there was a bit more detail in the legs, I think this is shaping up to be a pretty awesome release. I really love how the ladder collapses into the cab. As someone already mentioned, it does appear there will be a few "masterpiece moments" with this guy.

 

The full toon mode is way too much simplicity for my tastes, but very happy we have options and everyone can display him they way they prefer. This guy is looking great though.

It's going to be a tough call on the head sculpt - they both look amazing.

Any hint at a release date in there?

 

Same here. I never noticed how plain the legs were in the cartoon, mainly used to the G1 toy.

But I buy MPs mainly for the toon look so (cue drama) live by the sword and all that....

 

so while i disagree with the slavish toon aesthetic ( i prefer a more toy/toon/media amalgamated look of the pre ultra magnus era MP), they've done a good job with the sculpting to give it the feel of inferno. the toy heads too. i do think it'd benefit from more detailing. the disappearing ladder is brilliant though....i think its takara's trump card in the inferno wars (for those that buy both official and 3P).

 

Looks like perfection to me. Feels like they're really getting these things down to a science. I'll likely display him with his chrome bumper and the sharper head (drawn in the better Toei episodes) most of the time except when I display him carrying Red Alert (+   ) where he'll have the crappier Filipino studio head.
