If someone gets this and doesn't want the Hot Rod hit me up.

Especially if/when it goes on clearance. :D

Have there been any actual Platinum products that have been worthwhile? They are usually significantly overpriced gaudy redecos in oversized boxes

Looks like the Wreck-gar deco is awfully close to the previous release... the only thing I want out of this is Scrapheap. And he alone is totally not worth that price...

I'd rather punch myself in the balls 110 times. Love the figures but that price has reached insanity. Thats botcon prices with 50% less creativity

Remember that's $110 Canadian, not US!

    $80 US

True, but IMO, $80.15 is still too much for the set.

Based off of the wiki list, I'd say yes.

Year of the Snake Omega Supreme was a retooled version of a pretty solid Energon mold that turned out to be pretty popular. Some, like myself, really like the alternate deco on Year of the Horse Optimus Prime. The Predaking reissue wasn't too stupidly expensive ($100 if I remember correctly) and while the Trypticon reissue was a little pricey he wasn't insanely especially for such an in demand G1 character. I also seem to remember the FoC Grimlock vs Bruticus set set being pretty close to the actual regular retail of the figures with just a small markup for the extra paint. I think some of the AoE platinum figures were similarly priced close to their retail counterparts for a much better set of paint apps.

Platinum Bruticus with Grimlock. For $100 I thought the price was pretty fair, especially compared to trying to get the SDCC version.

Got it for my Microblaze set. Never even remotely wanted a Platinum again.

the Conehead set has been the only one that didn't seem absurdly overpriced and/or poorly/gaudily/insanely deco'd to me.

EDIT::: but ^^^ those guys pointed out a couple more....

I like the idea of CHUG molds being used for Platinum editions. However, this MIGHT be a little pricey. I haven't looked at WreckGar yet but if you are curious about how the Hot Rod mold stacks up, I JUST did a review of the Challenge at Cybertron version with my own custom pain apps. At least you'd know what you are getting into with that figure. Personally? I like him, despite the limitations. Is the mold aging? Yes, but until we get a proper update, he might be the best CHUG option going at the moment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qPGjEvzzH8

If it was marked $30-45 I might give a rat's behind about this, but it isn't.

Remember when box sets meant you saved a little bit? Now it's 36 bucks per Deluxe before taxes.

I just want that Rodimus........ like 2-3 of them =P
