One's a serious comic book with the intention of being taken seriously, the other is a satirical and comedic web comic meant to get a few chuckles.

 

Instead of drawing her according to the toy they felt the need to sexualize her by giving her breasts and slapping V on her crotch. All for a non-comedic comic book.

But, oh, hey, it's made in USA and by white people so it's fine.

Oooh, yeah, and let's not forget how Bayformers treat female characters...

The Slipstream comic is a repeat of the Chromia sequel (where we learn Chromia's new look involves her large breasts). Slipstream travelled to the Legends Universe and got "younger" as a result, much to Legends Arcee's envy. She beats up Armada Starscream, confusing him for her home universe's incarnation, and Blackarachnia helps her due to a misunderstanding that she believed Starscream said something that upset the female seeker.

Super Starscream's comic is about his losing his job and filling in for Windblade who is unwell. Not much happens until Windblade reappears and we learn what her original mission was before losing her memories: to destroy the Legends Universe.

Me personally I don't see what the big deal is with having female characters look "sexy" regardless of form/species. I mean I know WHY people make a big deal out of it but I'm just sitting here thinking who's getting cancer over this? Who is going to start a public shooting because of female characters being depicted as sexy? Answer: F*cking no one. They'll just complain about it online and that's it.

It'd be fine if it's just opinion expressing, IMHO. But there's implication that some people wish to strive to censor or even outright block the production of things like this.

Also this. Some people are here just to give their opinion. Just because their opinion is shared with people who actively want to censor things doesn't mean everyone with that opinion does. =)


Bottom line: I think this topic has both "sides" overreacting, and I doubt most posters here would have a problem with anyone else here if they didn't look at their opinions as an opposition to anything. People have opinions. Some people may have opinions that are the complete opposite as your own. And that's okay.

Transformers being different styles across mediums is normal. I can't speak for scrapmetaru, but I think that it's "okay" because I would consider it to be art. And regardless if it is or not, it's an expression of someone. I believe that anyone has a freedom of expression, even if that expression is undesirable by the audience.

In an attempt to contrast myself from the people that seem to be speaking out against opinions, I'll add this disclaimer first: I'm merely pointing something out here, this is in no way an attempt to explain why you shouldn't have an opinion on this.

Anyway. People that are not asexual usually attempt to want to attract members of the sex that they themselves are attracted to. And in most Japanese continuities, Cybertronians(or rather, Seibertrons) are a sexual species, whether they use sex to reproduce or not. Just felt like pointing that out. :<

I absolutely love all the salt in this thread over a little web comic, and then there's the usual Japan bashing. There's nothing "sexist" about this, calm down. Its just a cute little comic, that's all. Though, I am glad to see there are some "sane" people in this thread.

If you don't like it? Don't look at it, simple as that. If your too much of a sensitive bunny for it? Simply don't view the material.
