Knowing how minor of a character Springload was, I'm definitely jumping on this version (even if he's a 1-step changer).

    Nicely done. :)

And yeah, I suspect this'll be the only Springload we get, so I'm picking it up as well. I do wish he had his vintage truck alt mode instead of this new buggy mode, but beggars can't be choosers I suppose.

On a peripherally-related note, I got my 3-year-old 1-step Quillfire for Christmas, and you know what? He's a pretty fun little toy. One thing I really like about him is that unlike a lot of the other 1-steps, he doesn't have a spring-loaded gimmick. Sadly, the 1-step Underbite, Strongarm, and Thunderhoof toys' mechanisms have already started to break down after a few months of normal kid-play. But the ones that just have manual unfolding mechanisms, like Sideswipe and now Quillfire, are a lot more durable.

    Just...How big is Megatronus exactly?

Also, can someone explain to me why these RID toys are so awful? Are they designed solely with children in mind?

Deluxe size. I don't have my US version in front of me to measure exactly, but he's approximately the same (somewhat shrunken) size of most modern deluxes. Probably about equivalent to, say, the FOC or AOE deluxes.

Yes, the RiD toys in general are aimed more at kids, with the simpler ones (1-step and 3-step) obviously aimed at younger kids.

As usual, they never skimp on the paint.

It tickles me how the larger figures are just called "Big __".

I wish Hasbro had the time/confidence in RiD to start doing more of these Decepticon designs in Warrior Class.

Hell, some of these would make awesome Voyagers if RiD were given the same figure blitz as a movie year.

They're aimed at children and patterned after an animated show where character models don't have as many surface details as Generations or TFP character designs.

Probably Hasbro should not be skipping so many paint apps on these molds because there isn't too much going with these designs when you skip paint. As it is, it's pretty much Takara versions for this line only.

Honestly the lack of paint really hurts these toys. I can't see myself getting any of the Hasbro releases except for maybe Scorponok. I got Drift, Jazz, Fracture and soon to be Megatronus, Quillfire and Thunderhoof all from Takara and Wingblade when they eventually do her. It just goes a long way into making a figure look from mediocre to great.

I like his face, I like both of his modes, but "Megatronus" always looks as if his photos are taken in black-and-white- so de-saturated. He needs more color. At least past Megatrons have had some black and red to augment the blandness. Otherwise, up-size & upgrade this to a Voyager or Leader, and give him a retractable battle-mask, and he's bought!

I usually end up buying the Takara versions, but I saw the Hasbro Megatronus in person for the first time today and I ended up buying him. I'm not sure if the added paint detail is worth the extra $15 this time.

Thanks man. You got it right. ;)

I have these 3 TF:Adventure bots, Masterpiece IRONHIDE & HOT RODIMUS, & also Fracture & BIG Thunderhoof (along with MAFEX Mickey.mouse) on way from HLJ this week.
Really love the Takara 3steps because they.are done up in the right deco and really being the molds husai designed them to be out. Hasbro's are fun too but have a lot to be desired..

except this isn't Megatron but The Fallen, as in the original 13 guy Megatron was named after, who you know was originally black with glowing orange flames.
