Doesn't that just mean it's only a year's subscription, as it's currently December 2015 so going beyond 2016 isn't possible?

No. For example, I have always updated my subscription in the middle of the year so my subscription would not be terminated until the middle of the year. It makes no sense to say all subscriptions would be terminated in December 2016 unless the club was ending for good.

Very curious statement indeed, not to go all tin foil hat conspiracy but there are so many signs that have popped up recently that point to that conclusion, one can't help but wonder....

CybertronCon, no prize drawing for Botcon 2017, the deep discounts during Black Friday (some on very recent items, like the 2015 Botcon souvenirs).

Has this been asked on the Club's forums?

    Oh yeah, right. ;)

The club is ending. No word on BotCon, but Hasbro didn't renew the name.

I'm not sure what you mean by "renew the name." The name "BotCon" is owned by FunPub, not Hasbro. There's nothing for Hasbro to do on that count.

This is a sad thing indeed, as this means no official fan club and no official fan convention.

Seems Hasbro cares more about the $$$$$$ rather than the dedicated fans.

Which begs the question, if they did lose their license and they own the name, will there be any more Botcon conventions? What will be the name for future conventions?

I was in the minority who actually liked the TFCC exclusives. So if this is true, then I'd be sad.

What we had was a poorly managed wreck that only served to generate money for Savage to put into Joecon. The magazine is fanwank trash, the exclusives are plagued with quality issues, and the convention packages are increasingly more expensive without getting much more back. On top of that the forum was down for years, and only "came back" through fansite favoritism with Seibertron.

Oh, and the credit card debacle.

A large chunk of the fandom developed a negative opinion of FunPub over the years, and most of us wanted the license revoked and given to a more competent company. Maybe we aren't dedicated enough...

Well, one of the first bits of news that led to speculation re: FunPub losing the license was a bit about Hasbro buying the rights (someone please clarify the details) to another name: CybertronCon or something like that.

Hmm. They just posted that there'd be a hint to 5.0 in the next club magazine too.

Will we actually get a comment from Fun Pub about this?

With FP gone, this means the end of official fan clubs and official fan conventions.

There will be Transformers Experiences, but those events will be nothing like BotCon.
