Hm, definitely going to have to wait and see but right now, I'm honestly not impressed. His heels have giant bits of "metal" sticking out, tons of panels look designed to not line up, his elbow hings stick out and his butt ball joints are uncovered. I really, really, really hate to say this about a BW update, but unless it gets improved or looks better as a physical figure, I'll probably skip this.

Edit: Staring at it a bit more, if it's all one colour, like this render, then I guess everything could blur together. I just fear that those out of place bits are going to be highlighted by having different colours. Especially those butt balls.

Hoping we at least get a BW Megatron out of this. If its just Primal, there isn't much of a point, IMO.

Well, its Takara. We know how much they love making nothing but good guys. :D

On a more serious note, I'd love a masterpiece Blackarachnia. The United version is nice, but hardly perfect.

The difficulty with MP Beast Wars (aside from concealing robot parts in organic alt modes) is that some of the original toys weren't exactly terrible to begin with.

We've also had the Beast Wars Reborn releases of Primal and Megs which were pretty good in their own rights.

Still, I'll probably end up getting this...

Good point. The need for Masterpiece versions of BW characters isn't nearly as severe as it is with G1. (Aside from the need of a new Blackarachnia, a scaled up Terrorsaur, and a scaled down Primal and Megatron, most of them are still fine toys, even by todays standards.)

Going to pass. I never really liked beast wars as a kid, I had the original to this guy as his head reminded me of G1 prime.
Happy for those excited, It looks virtually the same as the original in my eyes. I've never felt many of the post G1 toys need MP's as they were made pretty decent in the first place.

OMG; cannot wait for this guy! Hope he isn't enormous like MP10 though. What month does it say in that magazine article for release?

Agreed, I would have preferred a better shoulder transformation. This doesnt look like so much of an upgrade.

I think I might just get the season 1 crew for both the heroes and villains. The main reason why the show drew me in was nostalgia....so I'm not going too much into the BW line.

At first glance, it looks great, but looking closer.... Those elbows look terrible, the feet look flat and wide, all the joints appear misshapen in one way or another, and the gorilla face looks far too long (hopefully it's just the angle).

I'm not going to jump to conclusions until we saw more and especially until I have it in-hand, but he's already exhibiting problems that other recent Masterpiece figures seem to have (Ironhide, Hot Rod and, to a lesser extent, Tracks). I really hope Primal turns out good though.
