Upon closer inspection..... that's not IDW Roller.

That's Shattered Glass Roller. Take a close look at the symbol in the pictures. I may be seeing things, but that looks like an SG Autobot symbol to me.

 

So, maybe this is a bit of a pipe dream, but if Takara is doing toy colors for Galvatron here, hopefully they will do toy colors for the upcoming Voyager. Probably unlikely, but I'm hoping. I want both decos.

 

This REALLY works for me. Holy shit! You heard me...I really goddamn want this.

The breakdown of this set is so crazy it's genius. I wish Hasbro did this when introducing the new characters...put them in WHOLE NEW TEAMS instead of shoehorning them into existing teams. But damn this is cool...and Ghost Starscream looks VERY damn good!

 

Amazing boxset, this. Need.

Some solid use of what's clearly head pretools as well - that's more a generic conehead sculpt instead of Armada Thrust's flight helmet mouth, after all.

And I guess this confirms that the combiner pegs CAN get factory paint apps, which makes me wonder how TakaraTomy will handle Swindle (whose peg would need tan and purple for proper G1 accuracy)

 

I swear you're gonna have fun with the Roller figure. Such a damn amazing toy, no matter what his color scheme is.

 

Oh, so the Roller is absolutely the IDW Roller.

 

Weird angle, but I think it's just another shade of grey or silver, like movie symbols.

 

Yeah not sure wherw the news article is getting Movie Wreckage from...

 

Actually, I look at it closer, and the Autobot symbol is a lighter shade of gray, not purple.

 

Don't care how much it costs, I am getting this set. I've been holding off on the CW imports but this set NEEDS to be on my shelf ASAP.

 

Thrust's head is a bit off, generic Cone Head, but goddamn I'm in love with this set! Clear Starscream will be on my Seeker shelf, so I need to think of a dead Decepticon/"Betrayed" Autobot...

 

So will we see a repaint of one of the stunticon molds into Prime Knockout now to go with his buddy Breakdown. That would be so badass.

I can't believe that I'm gonna buy this, but its just so good. And I already have Galvatronus!

 

Of course it's IDW Roller! His story fits perfectly! As I said in my post (see above) he was abandoned by Orion Pax and left to wander the wastelands of Cybertron, until (in this splinter timeline) he came across Unicron and became a combiner.

 

Pretty random, but I like it.

 

My only concern is the future of Ghost Starscream. I don't ham hand my figures but I know trans-plastic can be fragile over time and I worry about breakages. My track record for figures with transparent plastic in high stress areas is pretty poor. Still feelin' the loss of my Animated Swindle due to that.

 

Starscream has a unique head? Please, please, please, please... make deluxe seekers.

C'mon, Hasbro. Minimal effort, maximum gains!

 

Crap, some of these guys are awesome. I think I'm gonna have to buy this and split up the set.

 

 

Anyhow, I really like this set, in all its delightful Takara insanity. Reminds me of the Shouki repaint of Astrotrain, the way it uses a quirky but coherent logic to make sense of the character choices.
