overall i think this takara version is better than the voodoo one.....2x for me!

 

Say what you want about the skirts (even then, it seems much less obvious on Ratchet).... but they've done an incredible job on the side profile!

 

I love that side view. Note the torso area where the upside down trapezoid of the windows match the diagonal section from the chest. Geometric beauty.

Never a doubt which I was getting.

I like Ironhide, but to me Ratchet blows the mold up to massive proportions. He fits the mold so well. Maybe it's because Hide has the lack of signature gray on his side's because of the van body and Ratchet was always all white there. Dunno, all I do know is Ratchet rocks this mold.

 

Does someone have the Generations 2015 book scans of Ratchet?

I think it's because Ratchet's crotch actually fits in with the overall style of the figure, maybe Ironhide could use with a nice 3rd party... crotch?

I agree with that. Ratchet does make the mold fit himself more than it ever did as Ironhide.

 

The mold is starting to grow on me but the facesculpt does not scream Ratchet to me at all. @Dr Wu: better start working on that.

Can't wait for these guys, but I think not giving Ironhide a Carly figurine and not giving Ratchet a Sparkplug figurine were real missed opportunities. We have a Raoul, but no Sparkplug? Wtf?!

Someone mentioned die cast on the van bros but I doubt it, especially since they have plastic wheels like the smaller, all plastic carbots. It's ok, though - the vans are packed so full of robot stuff that I think they'll feel like a nice, substantial chunk of plastic in hand.

 

They'll be chocked full of Polyamide I'm sure. That is a really strong and durable nylon plastic, I don't see it being used in place of many of the MP-10 or 22 Die Cast parts (Magnus' torso, Primes waist transformation joint...etc...), as those indeed have much stress to cope with, but for the car bots and possibly van bots here...yeah. Sideswipe's spine is made out of it for example, as are many parts on Wheeljack and Tracks.

Interesting! I'd wondered about those parts. They have a noticeably duller matte surface, and are mostly tucked away in the centers and heels of the figures.

I'm happy with the van bros including or excluding any die cast parts. The build quality on all these toys going forward from MP-10 has been totally satisfactory to me.

At first I was a bit bummed about plastic wheels (I've never had the bad experience of rubber decaying), but the longer I collect, the happier I am to pre-emptively avoid that pitfall. (That said, the wheels on Magnus and Prime are oh-so sumptuous!)

 

Oh TFS, you crack me up. They have MP Ratchet with coin listed as a January 2016 release date. Obviously, that's MP Ironhide's release date.  

Why is he now listed as a March release at both BBTS and TFS, when he's an April release overseas? Do they have a time machine we all don't know about? : 0
